Did the test, came up 12 and 54 checked the batter connections, took the negative side off.

tested the cam voltage, shows 8 volts, tested while running and the voltagge went from .3 plus to .6 plus, fluctuates back and forth.

Had it idleing, runs for 3-4 minutes, shuts down, no dash check engine lite, starts ok, runs for 6-8 minutes, shuts down again. Starts up ok !!!!

code 54 indicates the cam sensor not the crank, without the scan tool it would be a trial by error correct ???

Have you flushed your fuel tank and lines, It is probably a small piece of dirt grit or rust that is limiting at times, ad blocking at times the fuel flow. Try a fuel additive fuel line/injector cleaner it that does not do the trick. Flush your tank, make sure your fuel lines are clear and clean your injectors.

U MOST LIKELY HAVE A IGINTION PROBLEM CUASED BY A DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, TO CONFIRM THIS YOU MUST RUN A TROUBLE CODE TEST, TO DO THIS FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE BELOW

  • Turn the engine off, then turn the key ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON without starting the engine.
  • The codes will begin to flash on the Check Engine light. The light will blink the number of the first digit, pause, and blink the number of the second digit.
  • All codes are 2 digit numbers.
  • The code 55 indicates the end of the messages.
  • As an example, a stored code of 23 would flash 2 times, pause, flash 3 times, pause, flash 5 times, pause, and flash 5 times

Using excessive fuel cleaner can damage injectors and the fuel pump - sounds like your problem is the fuel pump bearings, and you will probably have to have it replaced.

You mean it's hot? Don't run it if it is..................that's a sure head gasket blown or worse. If it runs a few minutes and dies,it could be the fuel filter plugging badly.
Sometimes an ignition with the computer chip or whatever in the key will stop sporadically. You need to give more details.Sounds,slowing,backfiring,jerking,etc.? don-ohio

check the vacuum lines on the engine.sometimes these will crack or develop a small hole or break and it will **** too much air in the engine causing it to act that way.

Sonata Jerks while driving, feel like the engine stalls & starts

I recommend that you find a good reliable shop and have the computer codes checked. Each time the check engine light comes on it also stores a code in the computer that shows which system is not properly operating. While this info is not specific, it is far better than guessing. The de-carbon service is likely not to help. I'm guessing that your problem is in your fuel management system, perhaps a fuel filter, and service to any decel/idle components. But not being there, it's only an educated guess!
    good luck

    Stalling issues

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

The 1st thing to do is have a trouble code retrieval test run to see what is making the check engine light come, this is the source of the problem.

The ignition switch is faulty if the gauges and dash lights will not come on, change the fuses first. Transmission fluid and filter change needed. Differential gear oil change also needed.
