Intermittent fuel problem with 1.9dCI Laguna

Recently, when down to last 1/4 of tank of diesle, I starting getting the old "kangeroo" behaviour as if fuel was being starved or was polluted.
I topped up the tank and it went away. Now after using a 1/4 tank, it is back, though again intermittent.
E.g. Today driving to work - No problem.
Driving home - kangeroo'd most of the way home (approx 11 miles) then stopped.
It is a 05 car, with 41500 on the clock and the fuel system was purged and cleaned last year. It does 6000 pa.
I am thinking that maybe it is water in the fuel sytem or bad fuel and will drain the filter soonest.
Does anyone have any thoughts.

My gas gauge gauge keeps jumping up and down cant tell how much gas I have

In general, gas gauges are electrical in nature. There's a float in the tank that works a variable resistor. You can wear those out, and get intermittent output, though that issue mostly causes fluctuations at certain fill levels.

Then there's a wire running from the tank sensor above all the way to your fuel gauge. If that wire is intermittent anywhere along the whole length, you'll get what you have now.

Last place, there's a battery connection at either the gauge end or at the tank end. That can also be intermittent, causing the same symptoms you're seeing.

You need to check for all three possibilities, though the first one isn't likely for your symptoms.

Intermittent fault on slowing down sometimes cuts out on very slow cornering. its a automatic making it a pain . removed throttle body and cleaned still problem

Is the fuel supply okay? Has it been cleaned ? Is idle speed set correctly as a matter of interest. Sometimes if the fuel supply is just a little diminished and the enginde is allowed to run more slowly than it should under load , can result in bad behaviour. Agood tune and fuel system clean may do the job. Probably best to get it on an electronic diagnostic system

I put diesl gas in my nissan altima... I drained

You are probably going to have to change the spark plugs. They could have gotten fouled out from the oil based fuel.

2004 ford f350diesle hard starting depress throtle nothing there

Dear dsmalley427,
I think it sounds like a fuel injection problem. You get fuel for a while until the injector backs up and then all of a sudden NO FUEL. The engine quits and the pressure drops and flow returns enough for you to restart. If I were you I would get to a good mechanic and check the fuel injectors.
OR--try adding a fuel additive that would clean the injectors.--Signed jwr

The fuel filter is in the petrol tank. You will have to drop the tank to remove the old filter. Make sure the tank is empty as it is plastic so you need to have it as light as possible.
