Check battery wires are tight and clean. Also do the same at the starter. If they are fine then your solinoid is the fault.

Is it one of those clicks the starter solenoid and then can't make it click again until turning the key off and waiting???
Might check and make sure the battery connections are tight. Might also be the starter solenoid.

1999 grand prix with an automatic starter yesterday has been starting and driving just fine----yesterday went to start car by turning the key and wouldn't turn over just made a clicking sound. Can not turn...

it's sound like you have a electrical problem between your ignition and the auto start. To get the key out underneath the sterring column there is a little square tab that you can pull off. after you remove it you can push a button in that hole and it will release your key.

How old is the battery? How about taking the battery out. Charging it, then putting it back in?

Security light came on yesterday... nowy car

Turn key to run position and leave it there for about 10 mins.......or until security light goes out.
Car should start then.
Also......try another key.....the reader in the lock cylinder may like it better.
