To start make sure your dome light switch is in off position.
Check if there is a push button door jam switch. That is a little push looking switch on the jam between the door and body. In that case try pushing the switch by hand. If it does not work replace it.
If replacing the Jam switch does not fix the problem, then there is a contact to ground on wiring to dome light, and the wiring must be replaced.

Interior lights won't shut off

Some vehicles have a twist dashlight control and when it is turned to the extreme position it turns on the interior lights. Other vehicles have a separate switch for interior lights right on the dome light. Yet another type is a dome light with 3 selections that command the dome light to be on fulltime, or to be off fulltime, or the normal door opening triggering the switch.

Provided the problem is not any of the above, you could have a bad doorjam pin switch which is not separating its contacts when the door is closed. I would look at the drivers switch first as it has the most use.

Door ajar indicator remains on while driving and interior lights wont go off when auto is turned off even though doors are all shut. We will have dead battery and are out of town traveling. Help!

Not a professional, but what i would trouble shoot is when you close the door, it pushes against a little button. Sort of like a fridge (when you open it the light comes on, close it, it pushes against a little push in type button! It may be just from one door.....if you have a few friends around (4 people) then open each door and locate the button (may just be on the front doors). Look to where the doors are bolted on.....there should be something there!

Good Luck!

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Interior lights wont shut off

sounds like you have a short in 1 of your door switches one by one open doors one at a time find the pin switch and remove with a wrench 1 by one push the switch in and break contact or unplug the switch if light goes out then it's time to get a new pin or just leave it disconected and no more lights from that door
btw do if there was no one in the car with you and you can remember what door was closed last b4 this started i might be easy to find work backwards

Dashboard light comes on saying that one door is open but they are all closed even the trunk so dome lights wont come off

It could be that one door switch has fail or has become disconnected. Remove and inspect each door switch in turn the problem should be obvious when you find the faulty one. The door switches are normally mounted behind a small rubber dome in the door surround.
