Check the fuse first, if the fuse is good, then the pump is no good.

It is not the anti thief systm

Could be as simple as an air lock in your fuel lines. Its best to never let your tank get below one quarter full as it can cause moisture to build up in your tank as well. It does not cost any more to keep a full tank than to let it run empty then fill it.

2002 ford escape just stoped running

Could be your electric fuel pump in gas tank. you can check it by turning the key on and take gas cap off and have someone to check to see if their is a noise saying the fuel pump is working. someone has to stand by where you put gas in your car and put their ear to the hole an listen when you turn key on, do not start the car just turn the key on and if they hear a noise like a pump running then your electric fuel pump is okay, but if don't hear a noise then your electric fuel pump is not working. it is hard to explain about the noise you will hear, but as long as they hear something when you turn key on and their ear is at the opening they will know what I am talking about. I've done 4 electric fuel pumps in gas tanks on different vehicles. good luck ! would like to know if you could hear the pump running when you turned the key on with the gas cap off.

Car wont start

hmm. it is either fuel or spark. open the gas tank lid and have put your ear next to it. then have someone turn the key to the "run" position without turning the engine over. you should hear a slight humming noise for about 3 seconds when they do this. if you hear it, it means the fuel pump is working. if you try a few times and you hear nothing you have a bad fuel pump. if that is not the problem, then you most likely have an issue with the ignition system.

I have a 2000 mustang that will not stay running,,, it was running fine, i parked it for two months in the cold and didnt start it up, when i did... it wont run if u give it gas however it will set and...

I would run the fuel pump for a little while with the fuel line disconnected from the engine into a gas can . Although you might have changed everything you might still have residual water in lines or motor. I would still put dry gas in the tank

Gas is not getting into engine. Car turns over but does not start. Put gas in problem was not fixed.

The most simple thing to check, is to have someone stand by the gas filler hole with it open and the cap off. Have them or you put your ear to the hold and have someone turn the key to the "on" position NOT to the start position. Listen to see if you can hear the fuel pump making any noise. If not, there is a good possibility that it is the fuel pump. If you can hear it, I would then replace the fuel filter. If after replacing the fuel filter, the car still does not start. I would suspect that the problem is your fuel pump which is located inside of the gas tank itself.

Car shuts off as if starved of fuel remove fuel line and prime car starts

There's a fuel pump relay that turns on the fuel pump, as you turn on the ignition before the engine starts, to prime and pressurize the injectors. I'd check the relay it may not be operating.

I have a 1997 nissan sentra with 1.6 litter engine. It has 171000 miles. The other day I run my car very low on fuel and went around a sharp curve (345 degrees) when I came out of the curve the car acted...

most likely a bad fuel pump, do you hear it hum when the key is on? fuel pump has to pump 180 pounds of pressure to operatethe motor, some pumps do come on but don't pump enough pressure for car to run.if ou have spark but no run, it's a fuel issue. you wre right o replace the inline filter, that's where i would've started.i suggest you replace that fuel pump. if you disconnect the fuel line at filter@ turn the key on, the gas should shoot out about 20 feet. hop this helps!!

2000 silverado wont start

one good way to check that the fuel pump is running to listen. take the gas cap of and put you ear the the fuel tank fill neck. have a freind turn the key from the off position to the on position, but do not start the crank the engine over. you should hear a huming or wizzing sound for a few short moments. if you hear that sound the pump is running and more thatn likely pumping fuel.

Engine turns over but does not seem to fire. Checked plug and light white spark seen! timing all correct. can coil be outputing too low?

You may not be getting any fuel. With someone cranking the engine over, hit on the gas tank with a mallet - if it starts, then replace the fuel pump.

Another way to see if your fuel pump is working: Remove the gas cap and put your ear up to it. Get someone to turn the key to the ON position and listen for a whinning noise from the pump. If no noise is heard, theres a good chance your fuel pump stopped working.

It is possible for coil output to be low, but i believe your car has two coils, so even if one failed, it should still try to start at least on half of the cylinders.

Car turns over but wont start

I'm not sure what model make or year you have, but I think you are referring to the noise made by the fuel pump when the key is turned on... ?
The fuel pump sends and pressurizes fuel through the fuel line. If you do not hear this noise, your fuel pump may need to be replaced. On most later model cars and trucks, this envolves dropping the gas tank, as most modern make car's fuel pumps are located on and connected to the top of the tank.
Take the gas cap off and have a good set of ears listen to the tank inlet as someone turns the key to on position... just to make sure.
Good luck!
