The trunk release lever will not open the trunk. the trunk will open when the key is used but not by the release lever.

So, when somebody else pull the cable, do you see the latch move back and forward from the trunk? There is nothing complicated about a manual cable, it just pull the cable and there should be a reaction to it. If there is no action from the latch, no movement at all, then the cable is just broken. If there is a little movement, not enough to pull the latch to open the trunk, you still need to replace the cable.

How to adjust the trunk release lever?

There is no adjustment for the trunk release lever/cable. If it doesn't work there is a problem with the cable being broken/disconnected from the trunk lock assembly.

2003 Honda Accord has broken trunk release; is there a way to open it manually; there is no keyhole.

Firs look if the trunk release is whit cable or electrical,if its whit cable,go to the knob trunk release, take off the necesery part you need to take off to have space and to get to the cable, that way you can pull the cable. If its electrical, look for a blown fuse,if there is no blown fuse, open the back seats, that way you have access to the trunk and you can open it,check the selenoid .

Fuel tank door release, 2004 Honda Civic

The release cable is sticking or broken. To release the fuel door, open the trunk and pull off the fabric liner on the left side of the trunk. Behind this liner is the fuel door release cable; this cable leads to the fuel door and attaches with a twist-lock connector. It is cylindrical with two tabs. Twist the connector clockwise about 90 degrees and it should pull out, releasing the door.

Just remember, the fuel door will not stay closed until you put the connector back in.

1997 Toyota Corolla Trunk Release not working...

The trunk release cable runs along the inside edge of the car, under the carpet, on the driver side. It then snakes up over the metal under the rear seat, and then into the trunk, running along the trunk hinge/arm, driver's side. You will need to remove the rear seat bottonm and the seat back, and pull the carpet back on the driver's side to see the cable... More below:
-------> Before you do all of that, unbolt the latch handle and see if the plastic tab on the latch that holds the cable is broken; the cable release wires rarely fail, I replace handle assemblies regularly, never a cable. Maybe you just need a handle assby. Feel free to comment back if you need more assistance; Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Trunk

Sounds like the cable for the emergency release handle on the trunk cover is binding. Seen a few where the cable isn't passed in the right spot and the moment is shifts the trunk opens because the cable has too much tension. Also seen broken emergency grab handle just a little broken that will do the same because the cable is not in the right position. Usually a defective latch you will have problems closing it too.
