Question about 1991 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

1 Answer

Blazer turns over but will not start.

We have a good one. We had a problem with the muffler ( i think) overheating the floor of the truck. It got so warm that it started to melt the carpet. Anyway, the muffler then fell off. The truck had started to hesitate a bit and stalled once before we got home. I went out after we got the gear out of the truck and it stalled again. I got it going and then it stalled again. Now it will not start. What could the problem be. I thought it might have been vapor locked but went to start it late last night and still no go.

I would say your exhaust converter is worn out & blocking
the exhaust from getting out & since you continued to wonder ,
verses actually having the car tested, that you now have ruined the transmission

2001 blazer overheated now knocks and runs bad

Hi Wendy, hope I am wrong but it sounds like a cracked head or blown head gasket.
If the engine hasn't been started in a couple hours pull the engine oil dipstick and look at the oil level. If the oil level is over the full mark you likely have water in the bottom of the oil pan. Milky/semi-white oil on the dipstick would indicate the same. If the oil looks good and at or below the full level look in the water overflow for the radiator. Any sign of oil or milky looking foam is an indication of oil in the water from cracked head/block or blown head gasket. If both the water and oil look good start the engine, let it warm up and look to see if you have water coming out of the exhaust pipe. It is normal to see some water come out of the exhaust after starting a cold engine due to condensation in the muffler and catalytic converter but a healthy engine should have only a slight amount of water vapor coming out of the exhaust. Anything more would indicate a cracked head/block or blown head gasket.

Muffler gets white hot

Check to make sure your converter is plugged in. Also, make sure your timing is correct on your motor.

2000 chevy blazer getting spark&gas but want start

check your exhaust piping for any sensors that may have been damaged or unplugged during your manifold gasket job. Usually you can find them between the motor and the muffler, as well as between muffler and back of car.

how are you sure its getting gas?

The problem is it wont start it has a good battery its turning over just wont start

Really-- 3 mufflers, rather than figuring out why
the first one went

I guess you asked for a new muffler & no other
diagnosing, as to the cause

Now after 5months-- maybe someone on the internet
could guess

If the fuel pump check valve has failed, it will take longer
to start, but only after a long sit

You have a problematic fuel pressure regulator under the
intake manifold, that could be leaking & dumping raw gas
into the exhaust

Buy now your exhaust converters are ruined by you
procrastinating & all the raw full

1989 full size blazer with 350 TBI. Starts when cold if I push pedal to floor and won't start at all if I dont floor it. Then motor starts to load up with lots of black smoke out of exaust and stalls after...

Do a full blown fuel system cleaning and replace fuel filter. If you can, check the site on cleaning procedures. It works great for bringing the dead (stored/parked) back to life. FWIW, mashing the pedal to floor on those older TBIs actually turns fuel off on start ups. Run a good cleaner through it (sounds like injector is gummed up)
