Car won't start after rear-end collision

I have the same problem! I got rear-ended Wednesday and it drove fine. We went Saturday to get an estimate for the damage, which came out to about $3000. On our way home we stopped for lunch and when we left the car wouldn't start! We were able to jump it and get it home, so the next morning we went out and to get a new battery and now it still won't start!

Sounds like electrical drain-
Trunk light on, dome light staying on.
Something along that line.
You could try pulling the associated fuses until you get the car in for repairs.

There is short somewhere draining the battery until you or a mechanic can locate and repair the short disconnect the battery when car sits or it will drain the battery and at worst you could have a electrical fire this problem needs to be adressed immediately.

Will not start, does not get fuel

I would check the fuel pump. When you turn the car on (not start) do you hear the pump? Have someone turn the key and listen at the rear of the car, if not...fuel pump may be bad.

Water in rear passenger footwells

I have had water intermittently in the right rear trunk area (below the battery) every since an rear end accident. The dealer tells me that there is a vent back there that gets clogged up or opened up and lets water get in there. Not sure that I believe that, but that's the best explanation that they could give me.

Xterra won't start when the battery has juice free of corrosion and starter is freshly installed

Check the cleanliness and tightness of the battery terminals. Loosen, twist and retighten them. Also check the cleanliness and tightness of the black earth cable where it attaches to the engine block/bodywork. A bad earth can cause the symptoms you describe.

A quick check you can do is to connect a jump cable to the battery negative terminal - the earth - and connect the other end of the cable to somewhere suitable on the engine/bodywork.

If the car starts no problem with the jumper cable - it's pointing towards a bad earth/connection somewhere on the battery earth

2002 x5 rear end collision car will not crank over

My recommendation is to look for the Fuel Pump trip switch and reset it.

During a collision a sensor is able to sense impact and trip so fuel is not pump any longer.

With the car in the on but not running position see if you can hear the fuel pump.

If you can then the car has other issues.

Hope this helps

Rear ended car died and now it wont start

The collision most likely tripped the inertia switch for the fuel pump. It can be reset by simply pushing the button. However, I cannot tell you where it is located because you did not take the time to mention what kind of car got rear ended. YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, and ENGINE SIZE would be nice when you are asking questions about your car.

I've had trouble like that with my car before. Check the starter. A lot of times the starter can have the same symptoms as a battery. Hope this helps!

Check for fuel shut off switch, look in the truck or under the dash around the kick panels, will be a switch with a button on top, make sure the button is push down, if you can fine it call the ford dealship and they can tell you where it's at, when ever a collision the switch will cut fuel off for safty reasons, good luck.

All rear lights went out, brake lights work

Might be the multifunction switch on the steering column. Also called a combination switch.
