Trans could be stuck in limp in mood, may just need to replace the speed sensor, or diagnose the no speedo problem.. Trans relies on speed sensor info to shift

SOURCE: Transmission has reverse and low. Will not shift

most likely it is in fail safe mode witch is 2nd gear. This happens when the computer sees something something wrong. If the speedo is still working it's not the output sensor and could be the solenoid pac.

SOURCE: Transmission stuck in low gear,

Speedo works so its not the speed sensor causing the problem , im not sure what year ,make or model this car or truck is so i will tell you a few things to check, the first is the fluid level, then if this uses a passing gear cable to the throtleboby check it, make sure its connected and not broken. the last thing is to scan the computer and see what codes are stored in the ******, this last step would be for newwer cars and trucks, if all checks out then i would say its time to replace or have the ****** rebuilt. good day.

Please Help!!! 1999 Mercury Sable doesn't seem to accelerate past first gear..engine revs up to very high rpms.

If the speedometer stops working the odometer stops also. Sounds like it is stuck in first gear. The RPM went up because the throttle was response to pedal but transmission not response. Check transmission fluid color. Whip off dipstick on a white paper towel look for gray if see any that is metal shavings and transmission is bad.

Chrysler lhs transmission wont shift and my speedometer isnt working but all the other instruments are. what could it be?

It may be your speed sensor. When the speed sensor is not working, the speedometer will not work, the car will not shift past second gear, and the engine light should appear.

My transmission wont shift, the speedometer quit working at the same time in my 1999 plymoth breeze. It is an automatic transmission. Before the problem happened the transmission gave a **** and the...

Most likely your speed sensors are bad, this causes the transmission to seem like its "stuck" in second gear or in "limp" mode. I can also be your TCM (transmission control module). But from your description, it's most likely the speed sensors located on the top of the transmission. Make sure you replace them with an exact replacement are they are not interchangeable.
Hope this helps.

Many times this is caused by either a sticking electronic shift solenoid in the transmission or the trans fluid and filter need to be replaced, has the trans been serviced, it should have been done at 60,000 miles.

1999 Ford Taurus Wagon stays in 1st gear

Most Ford Taurus wagons have a transmission that generally goes first. that's the main reason. Just something to do with the way they are built. The only advice that I could offer is either replace the tranny or just not run the a/c. Usually it's just the motor working twice as hard running the a/c and that in turn puts the computer into the phase of lower gears for the transmission. there in being the problem.
