try a chiltons manual. they have all the procedures you should need to remove and replace the engine, as well as step by step instructions to rebuild or repair certain parts of it if needed. the most important thing to remember is where each part you remove goes, the bolts that were used (group each set in a bag to help you) and try to take lots of pictures from lots of angles to help you remember part locations. this vehicle may require you to possibly remove the transmission with the engine, due to the front wheel drive setup. if you have any questions, email me at email@example.com

Sounds like it is running too rich and you will need to replace the fuel control module. If the exhaust is blowing black smoke then it will only be a matter of time before you get stranded on the road. You should also be experiencing a loss of engine performance especially going up hill.
