Hi, yes there may well be a fuse for the magnetic clutch to engage, however i,m sure you have checked this out . what first comes to mind is that the aircon is low on gas. when this happens the control pressure switch is not activated to engage the clutch. if you can follow the pressure line back back from the compressor or and around the receiver dryer, you will find the switch. solution check if you have 12v at the switch with key on and air con and fan on, if you have power on one side of the switch but not the other then usually by bridging wires together the clutch will click in.......low on gas not enough pressure. have air con serviced regards hj miame

THERE IS A FUSE,HOWEVER MORE COMMONLY YOUR SYSTEM IS LOW ON R12 AND CUTOFF SWITCH IS ACTIVATED. TRY JUMPING THE CONNECTOR OUT OF THE ACCUMLATOR,THERE SHOULD BE A SWITCH ON IT,PULL CONNECTOR AND WITH VEHICLE RUNNING GET A PIECE OF WIRE AND INSTALL THEM IN BOTH FEMALE TERMINALS. IF A/C CLUTCH ACTIVATES SYSTEM IS LOW OR BAD SWITCH OR BAD FIELD COIL OR CIRCUIT DAMAGED

Pump a jumper in the connector the low pressure compressor cycling switch near the accumulator canister to see if the Compressor engages. See picture of switch below, it is in the low pressure line or the accumulator.

#6 fuse blown out when I put on air condition

When the a/c is engaged, the compressor clutch engages. If the compressor is going bad, it will be harder to turn which causes the clutch to overload and blow fuses.

Air conditioning does not work; pumps hot air

Check that the system is charged with sufficient amount of r134a refrigerant.
Check that the air conditioning compressor engages its belt driven clutch when the car is idling and the a/c is switched to on.
Does the fan turn on for the radiator when the a/c is switched on?
Check that the fuse is not blown for the a/c in the fuse box.
Consider checking the blend door that it is flipping the right way to allow cold air to enter the cabin area through the vents. This may require disassembling the dash board.

Those are a few things I thought of that may lead to repairing your a/c problem.

Air con pump not engauging

Hi:

You should verify that your AC system still has a full charge of refridgerant, and if it does,
The problem is most likely the AC clutch assembly on the front of the compressor.

Since the dash light works, and the fan turns on, there is power to the system, but the compressor won't turn on if the pressure switch says the charge is low, and if you turn the switch, and someone can hear a click of the compressor clutch solenoid, but no air, the clutch assembly is probably the culprit

Clutch won't engage on air conditioning compressor

The air gap may be too wide between the clutch disc and plate. It usually happens from wear. You can test this possibility by engaging the clutch electrically as you have done and then push on the disc slightly with the handle of a hammer or screwdriver. Be careful not to get your hand or fingers too close while the engine is running. Basically you are helping the magnetic field pull the disc in. I hope this helps.

Air conditioning

If there is no r-12 or freon in the system it wont come on. Try jumping the pressure switch. It's a 2 wire plug somewhere one the AC lines. Just pull it off and jump the wire end with another wire.If the clutch engages you need freon or R-12.

1998 nissan sentra gxe air conditioning

just cause the relay clicks and makes noise does not mean its working properly that relay provided you have the right one will engage the clutch and the chances of the clutch being bad are very slim so make sure that you have the right relay and get a replacement just for arguements sake and try it also when you select the air cond does the selector light to show that its working that also could be the problem now if the system is out of refriderant this could also be the problem.Hope this helps
