Question about 2000 Kia Sportage

1 Answer

I have a 2000 KIA Sportage. My check engine light keeps coming on. The past 2yrs. I have had All of the belts changed. The Thermostat & gasket replaced. I have had the Air flow meter replaced & serviced. The catlytic converter replaced. I am at a loss as to why this keeps happening. Can anyone suggest what I might have missed or need to have done?

You need to have a scan done to see what is the exact problem.
is it egr evap electric etc.gas cap? the check engine generates a code that tells what system is defective.

Coolant temp sensor Possibly More likely to be fuel pressure or ignition control module Or possibly a thermostat housing sensor depending on how new your is

HOLD keeps coming on in my 99 kia sportage what does that mean

Look on the shifter lever, just bellow the push button. There is another push button there. That's the one you press or depress to keep the transmission on 3rd. gear. Just press it again and the hold light should come off.

2000 kia sportage trouble code po171 once in awhile, runs lean when cold,ok warm. i have 2 of these cars, changed over , map, tps ,idle sensors. also changed fuel injectors, filters ,fuel pump, fuel pressure...

I have 2005 Kia Sportage with a check engine light. No other symptoms. I was told by Kia and Local mechanic that it is the fuel injectors. Error Code states that Fuel injectors are running lean. Put Master airflow- no change. Ran engine test with propane to run rich and trim never changed from 15. Car runs great. Kia dealer said that this is because we use Ethel in gas that it effects the alumium fuel rail delivery to the injectors and that it is necessary to change all of them .Kia Dealer wants $1,000.00 deposit to place order 6 fuel injectors from Kia. (Has anyone heard of that?)Also put fuel injector cleaner in tank.Does anyone have any suggestions before I spend over $1,000.00 to replace all 6 injectors or possible idea of what could be wrong?

yes it is very easy just remove the air intake duct located on the radiator (2 10mm bolts) this exsposes the thermostat housing it has 3 10mm bolt remove those and the top of the housing the the thermostat. clean off old gasket material, then replace the thermostat and gasket and reassemble the housing and air intake duct.
