Question about Ford E-150

1 Answer

1994 Ford E-150 running ruff and stops.

My dad's 1994 Ford E-150 began running ruff. He took it to a shop where they did work on the valves and did not solve the problem. Engine will start and run somewhat ruff and will stall while parked but when driving will just stop (Cut off) and can't be restarted till cooled down. Another shop found that Distributer gear was striped so it was replaced. Ran fine for a few days then started doing same thing again. Engine has 83k miles. Dad has spent several thousand and problem is not fixed. Help!@!!

WELL PLEASE GO TO FORD DEALER. INDEPENDENT SHOPS GUESS ALOT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT SPECIALIZED. DEALER'S THESE DAY'S ARE JUST AS CHEAP AS INDEPENDENT SHOP DUE STAY COMPETATIVE. IF YOU GO THERE FOR A CONCERN,IT WILL GET FIXED FOR THAT CONCERN END OF STORY. THE DEALER GIVES YOU A QUOTE THAT'S WHAT YOU PAY OTHERWISE IF ITS MISDIAGNOSED THEY PAY FOR THE REST TO IT'S RIGHT. PLEASE CONSIDER DEALER. MAY BE A FUEL PUMP RELAY OR PUMP. YOU DIDN'T MENTION ENGINE SO I HAVE TO GUESS. POSSIBLY A STATOR AND TFI MODULE,REALLY COMMON ON 302'S AND 351W ENGINES WHEN THEY GET HOT. GOOD LUCK

2003 Ford Explorer XLT Wants To Stall At Low Idle,, especially when at a stop light

How does it idle in park , does it run ruff or smooth? Are any lights lit on the dash , check engine etc. ? Could have a partially plugged IAC air passage .idle air control (IAC) valve ! The engine computer uses the IAC to control idle , when under a load such as when put into gear the computer raises the idle ! It does this by allowing more air to by pass the closed throttle into the engine raising the idle ! If these air passages clog they restrict the air flow an cause a idle problem ! Now if it runs ruff at idle in park you could have vacuum leak ! Rough Idle How to Fix Ford Taurus Engine Stalls at Stop Signs

Engine light came on 2000 toyota avalon. auto zone said error code indicated it needed a new charcoal canister for emissions. today, car sounds ruff as if valves are knocking and wanting to stop at low...

Take the vehicle to a close by local repair shop, that has been
in the same place & same owner for 25 years or more

The chain store places aren't what you need

You need a proper diagnoses of the entire cars engine etc

1994 Ford Escort dies at stops

I had the same problem a year ago. I problem was that the intake manifold gasket had a small hole and it was causing the computer to constantly change the air to fuel ratio. The constant changing cause the engine to die at stops.

Ruff running Engine-no power-fine at idle

It could be one of three things. EGR valve, IAC (Idle Air Control), and last your cat being clogged. Not likely to be a clogged converter unless you have but the Ford through some pretty good hell. I would go with the EGR and IAC first and check those out first then move on from there

I just had this problem with my 2002 Ford explorer. I took it to the shop and it was the valve cover gasket. This was causing some slippage and white smoke from exhaust.
