Most cars have a hose taking hot water from the motor to the heater, and also a return line that takes water back to the engine.
If you can figure out which one is which, ( the one should squirt water out strongly) take a short length of plastic pipe or metal tubing and 2 stainless steel band clamps and couple the two hoses together so the water comes from the engine and goes right back to the engine.
God bless your efforts.

SOURCE: Male fitting on heater core inlet broke off in hose

RKmastertech is incorrect. That plastic fitting is seperate from the aluminum heater core and can be removed by means of a special quick disconnect tool, like OTC 6046. Rock auto has the fitting for $5 plus shipping, just for a reference.

I cant afford to fix heater core at this time so how do i identify hoses to bypass

http://www.chiltonlibrary.com/ContentViewer/CVFrameset.aspx
Here is a link for you if you want to replace the heater core your self with common tools. As for the heater hose, you should see two small radiator hose going to the fire wall. You can disconnect the hose from the fire wall and connect them together, this will by pass the heater core till you replace the bad core. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know your expedition is running 100% again.

How do you bypass the heater core on a 1989 Chev. Camaro 5.0

take the inlet hose to the heater core and connect it with the outlet hose on the heater core, thus creating a by-pass. you may be able to follow the hoses back to the aterpump and engine block and make a shorter run of it.

Heater hose broke

there should be two bolts on the inside holding it into place or it could be your heater core that they belong to . I have seen them bolted to the inner fire wall .
