In first and second it wants to change at high rpms. I keep fluid in the truck even though there is a small leak nothing major. today it would not come out of third gear.

Service the transmission and check the tension spring on the valve body to insure its not broken. Also on the side of the transmission there is a dash pod that is vacuum driven. Insure it works and the vacuum is hooked up. There is a shift cable that runs to the from the trans to the engine to kick down the shift on hard acceleration , this also sets your shift points. The dash pod is also adjustable with a small flat blade screw driver thru the vacuum inlet. If the RPM reeves up and then shifts, it is slipping and in need of rebuild.

check carefully to make sure it is shifting from 1st to 2nd.... there is a "sun reactor shell" inside the transmission that when broken causes reverse, 2nd and fourth to be lost. it is an extremely common failure.

best way to check.... drive along with the gear shift lever in "2" you should feel one shift as you accelerate. then carefully bump it into "3" or "D" whichever the case may be. another shift should be felt. if you do not feel a shift, you have likely stripped the teeth of that shell. hope this helps..

Wont shift out full of fluid

Dear Jackie.
is this an engine problem or transmission?
if the rpm is too high for the gear you are in , the A/T tranny is slipping.
and slipping makes it worse.
check fuses
check levels of ATF by the book do not guess, on how. do not guess on fluid or kiss off a $3500 tranny
do not run high or too low fluid levels, ever.

Idles high from first to second gear .

Define idles high like its going high rpms before shifting or the engine itself is high reving if its high rpming when shifting its mostly you tranny going out you can try tranny fix oil I used it on my truck when it had shifting problems and ive had no problems since it takes a few days to work though and if its the motor itself it could be a lot of things but I dont know much of the problem based on what you told us

When driving the truck tends to rev way higher than normal, when you are at a stop and then try to go depending on how hard you hit the gas it will bog down almost dying, or die. also when you are driving...

sounds like your torque converter going bad. change the tranny fluid, and look for metal shavings (have a pro do this), sometimes you can squeeze enough life out of a bad tranny/torque converter by changing the fluid, or it might just be a clogged tranny filter. change the fluid, and if theres metal shavings in it, sell it while it still runs.

1990 Camaro changes gears when on the brake.

Sounds as though you may have multiple problems happening at once. I have seen overdrive solinoids cause a similar problem. BUT Unless you get it to a trans shop you will continue to guess at it. There may be PCM issues a scan will tell you if.
Fluid flush will likely cause this to get worse very quickly
