Hi Glen
All depends what you mean by warning lamp.
Early Alternators used to have a terminal connected to the "Star" winding inside. A 12v lamp connected between here and ground will light up when a charge is available.
But.... the simplest method is to buy LED charge lamp which checked for voltages above 12v (12.5 to 14v} and lights up showing a charge. I can buy a simple device like this from my local Jaycar Electronics store. You should be able to get a similar device depending on where you are

Good Luck

SOURCE: is it hard to change an alternator on a ford focus

Hello, This job is alot harder on your car than most that's for sure. It really depends on your mechanical ability and time vs the amount your willing to pay someone else. This job is easy if your not afraid to loosen the passenger motor mount and slid the engine forward about an inch with a pry bar. (Which sounds alot harder than it is) But the Hanes manual lists alot of things to do to get around the motor mount.

Per Haynes Manual.
Place Coolant Expansion Tank to one side.
Lift out Power Steering Reservoir and put to one side.
Remove DriveBelt.
Unscrew Wiring Loom bolt and move wiring to one side.
Remove Ground Cable from Strut Tower.
Bent the ground bracket down as much as possible.
Move Canister Purge Valve to one side.
Remove Plastic Cover from Alternator.
Unscrew and the alternator mounting bolt nearest the engine first.
Unscrew the other retaining bolt until it has fully disengaged from the bracket (not possible to remove bolt from alternator at this stage).
Lift the alternator out, Pulley side facing upwards.
Take care not to damage or you might screw your surrounding components!

I would say if you dont work on cars or have mechanical ability you should prob take it to a profesional. I hope my answer helped more than it scared you....lol....Have a great weekend and please rate my answer if you felt it was helpful

How do I reset the low kefob battery on the DIC of a 2004 silverado

Had the same problem with my 2004 Tahoe. I turned the ignition to the run position (don't crank motor), when the warning came on I held the unlock button on the key fob until the warning was removed. I took out the key, locked then unlocked the door. When I put the key in the ignition, the warning doesn't come on anymore. Hope this helps.

Dead no spark

Check all your battery connections. Maybe not a good connection since your key doesn't turn on warning lights and gauges. See if your headlights work to verify a good battery connection.
Any chance you blew fuses? Like a maxi fuse for the ignition switch? Or for older vehicles that used a fusible link to connect battery power with the ignition switch. Keep diagnosing until you get power to the ignition switch (warning lights and gauges working with key ON).
Any chance your battery is totally discharged? Was the alternator working good when tested? If alternator quits working, engine and all electricals will run off the battery for a time until it is totally depleted, then will stall and won't have enough juice to even turn any lights on. Check battery voltage with a multi meter or voltmeter. A good, fully charged battery will show 12.6 volts. If under 12 volts, it may or may not have enough juice to start, but lights will still work some, though maybe very dim. .

Mk1 Cortina engine starting problems

All fords were notorious for starting at one bit but on the Cortina
that I had one winter I had to remove Two spark plugs from 1 and 3 cylinder , take them in the house warm them up on the gas ring then on return to the car pour in a half spoonful of petrol to the "pots" then refit the hot plugs then after 3 swings she would go. The only other solution was to put the car in a nice warm
garage.!!
