2004 Ford Mustang 3.8L V6 Misfire cylnder 1

I have changed plugs and wires and Im still getting sputtering...but now where near as much as it was before the new plugs/wires. The service engine light is still on (throwing a code) and I dont know if going through a drive cycle will clear this problem up or is this the signs of a much larger (more expensive) problem? This car has under 60k on it and has ran great up until this past friday. I am at a loss here and dont know what to try next as side from fuel injector cleaner.

Im sorry... I have had the codes checked. Its throwing a cly 1 misfire code. Its not been showing anything for sensors.

  • jaewest1 Jul 13, 2009

I had the code read at Autozone and it is a cyl.1 misfire code. Theres no sensor code being shown.

  • jaewest1 Jul 13, 2009

The code was only showing a cyl.1 misfire. There were no codes for any sensors being shown. I added Seafoam just in case and it helped some but still some slight sputter when idle

Have someone pull the codes it will more than likley be a p0300 tru p0306 missfire detected code if the code is just for one cylinder get a spark tester and check that cylinder if there is no spark get a new coil pack it if the check engine light is flashing when your driving try not to drive it to far you could damage the converters

Forget the injector cleaner. Get to an auto parts store like Schucks/Kragen/Checker/Chiefs/NAPA and they will read the codes and let you know what is being flagged. It is FREE. Way too many things to list what could be the problem. Sensor for sure...just don't know which one without the fault code.

If your check engine light is on you have a sensor problem. Some auto parts stores (like AutoZone) will troubleshoot the code free of charge. Chances are you'll only have to pay for the replacement of any engine sensor. It's as easy as changing a spark plug if you know what sensor is bad.

P0316 p0301

both codes signify a misfire code 301 is misfire in cylinder 1 and code 316 is misfire detected in the first 1000 rpms from the sound of a 2004 im guessing it has coil on plugs meaning a boot and wires from the boot to the computer those boots can be real espensive but your fuel injector could of gone out in cylinder 1 as well

My engine keeps sputtering. I have a 2005 pontiac grand am 3.4 liter V6. I've replaced the spark plugs due to a misfire, I've replaced the cranshaft sensor, I checked the timing on the timing

fuel pump could be going bad check fuel pressure that will make it sputter,if that not the case check fuel filter.

I have a 1994 ford mustang 3.8 v6, when i bought the car it had a slite misfire,i bought a new coil pack, changed the plugs and wires, I hooked up the coed reader and it pulled up P0302. cylinder number 2...

check your compression, you might have low compression in that cylinder-also check your fuel injector in that cylinder, it may be damaged (wiring/connection) or defective.

I have a 2000 ford mustang with a 3.8l v6. Well I know it had been sitting for a while. But anyways when I go to start it, it will try forever to start if I tap the gas while turning the key it will start...

yes your plug wires are bad. this sounds like a fuel system problem (ie plugged filter, flat injector weak pump) a good tune up will take care of it all. the Ford dealer will have all the correct factory parts as well as ford trained technicians to do the job right. also in today's market place you would be surprised how competitively priced they are.

Misfire in 1 & 2 cylinders after changing wires plugs and coil

since the problems appeared after the work, it is in the work. prob is in wires or plugs.. take no 1 plug out put it back in wire terminal, re install one of you old plugs into no 1 cylnder have someone turn eng. over ck for bright spark repeat for no 2. make sure plug gap is correct. if no fire to you plugs. then you know what to do replace the wires.

2005 Ford Mustang V6 sputters

That sounds like bad plug wires or ground.

Performance plug wires are cheap enough to try.

There won't always be a physical break that you can see in the wires.

Good luck.
