Change the thermostat. the transmission cooler is part of the radiator itself, and if there is an internal leak in the radiator,it is possible you have dexcool in your transmission fluid.the transmission will show issues if that is the case.heve the transmission fluid looked at,check the coolant and change the thermostat and have the cooling system pressure tested especially if you have been losing coolant.

I have a 2003 pontiac Grand Prix SE. It has a Slow coolant leak

Either get a coolant pressure tester, or take it to a shop for a cold pressure test. What you may be experiencing is a leak when the system is hot, and the liquid doesn't

stay liquid, but steams off as a gaseous vapor. So, you can look for the remains of what used to be liquid, a crusty discolored buildup near the leak, or pressurize

the system when it is cold and look for signs of a leak, in other words, a liquid.

1998 chevy venture running hot change the water pump and the thermostat, the fan is working, the temp gage goes up in the cool area then drops down to the hot area, what can the problem be?

Make sure the thermostat was the right temp range. Had same problem on ford truck and parts store gave me a 160 when it should have been a 180 degree thermostat.

My 1999 Chevy Malibu runs hot? It started when it overheated. We changed the thermostat, then water pump, then temp sensor gauge and the temp gauge goes high but only when the heater stops blowing hot...

Air pockets will make the guage do that, and also cause your heat to come and go. Also, a poor radiator, as in rotting, or plugged up, will cause high temperature issues.

2004 Chevy Venture overheats

check the make sure you have no air in your system if there is an air bubble trapped in behind the thermostat your thermostat wont open and your car will heat up and stay hot while letting a small amount of coolant through the bypass so it wont overheat

2000 Chevy Venture Van has been overheating. The temp will spike all the way up and then quickly drop again. Back and forth like that.

Almost sounds like the same symptons as my van. Turns out the guage was not the problem. The van was in fact running hot because the electric radiator fans were not kicking in when the engine was hot. I replaced the relay switches for the fans. There are two of these in the fuse panel under the hood. There has been no problem with overheating since

sounds like your low in coolant. this will cause an air pocket in engine and cause erratic temp readings/loss of heat check coolant in radiator when cold. and add
