On my 2003 venture, both brakelights burn out, they seem to get hot and melt at the base. This happens over the course of two to three weeks. First one goes then the other. What's up with that?

The blend door actuator can be seen from driver's side above gas pedal. Removal of lower hush panel is required and a double jointed arm you can get to it lying on your back. Make sure the seat is all the way back. I think the screws are 5.5 mm and three of them.
Hi, Classic ckp(crankshaft position sensor problem), check ckp harness wiring from ignition module to ckp sensor(tends to short out or burn on hot engine parts). You can repair wiring usually if its not too bad. What usually happens is it drops ckp signal and car shuts down but signal is immediately restored when cranking back up. Very hard to catch this problem in the act even with a scanner while driving usually does not set a code either. I usually inspect wiring to sensor back up to module for burn or melted spots. If all looks good even with a extensive wiggle test when engine is warm, I would replace ckp sensor. P.S. This will sometime result in bogging and misfires too when its getting ready to stall.
this sounds like the wires in the plug have shorted together at times and overheated the plug.or the wiring near the plug touched and overheated, look at the wiring from the plug back a ways and see if it looks like it has gotten hot or signs of melting, you may need to repair the wires when the plug is replaced.check the headlight bulb as well for signs of getting hot at the base of the bulb or just replace the bulb.
make sure of two things one is any wires touching at the starter to ground or melted and or is the starter drawing too much amperage causing the fuse to blow.starter may have a dead short in it.
Get the wright oil for the hot weather.Go to your dealers and they will advise you on what oil to use.It seems like you have the wrong grade of oil in the car for the hot condtions.hope that was helpfull.
