Question about 2005 Ford Escape

1 Answer

Replaced front pads and rotors on my wifes 2005 ford escape,6 months ago and they were fine for about a month ,they started making noises again and now the rotors feel warped again,i noticed when i had to take off the steel piece the calipers attach to ,in order to switch rotors ,the areas were the pads make contact there was pitting in the steel, should i replace these parts i have no name for ,both were pitted possibly from brake chatter, what causes such a thing that has not so many miles ,

POSSIBLY CHEAP PAD'S AND ROTORS WARPED FROM EXTREME HEAT EITHER FROM PADS OR HARD STOPS FREQUENTLY. I SUGGEST IF MONEY IS A PROBLEM GO TO THE DEALER AND GET MOTORCAFT PADS,A BIT CHEAPER THAN PREMIUM AND IF ROTORS ARE TOO THIN REPLACED THEM. ROTORS WILL GET WARPED AGAIN IF TOO THIN. HAVE A REPUTABLE SHOP DO A SLOW CUT,NOT FAST CUT ON ROTORS. SERIOUSLY,VEHICLE'S THESE DAY'S DO NOT WORK WELL WITH AFTERMARKET PART'S. FORD HAD DESIGNED THIER BRAKE SYSTEM TO EUROPE'S DESIGN TO OPERATE A CERTAIN WAY AND ABILITY. IT WILL BE COMPROMISED WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS. LOOK FOR SPECIALS AT DEALERSHIP, CHEAPER THAN YOU THINK FOR A BRAKE JOB THESE DAY'S WITH A WARRANTY ON THE JOB!

Are there wear sensors on the 2005 Ford Escape front brakes? I don't hear any noise from the front brakes, but the dealer wants to change the pads; and I want to wait until I really need them. They...

Depends on the pads used, some pads have them and some don't. They are just little clips of metal that touch the rotor when the pads wear down to a certain point. It creates a squeeling noise, hence the nickname "squeelers" or "squeekers". Dealers are famous for replacing parts that don't really need it. I would get a second opinion. It only takes a few minutes to remove the front wheels and do a visual inspection. You could ask the technician if your brake pads are equipped with the squeelers. I hope this helps.

My brakes were replaced about 3 months ago but the brake warning light just came on last night, why? About 2wks ago I had my ball joints replaced and they checked the brakes because of screaching when I...

The brake light will come on when the brake fluid is low or the parking brake is on. New brakes can make noise at first but not after 3 months. Screeching is caused by low quality pads/rotors or a lack of lubricant on brake parts and behind the pads.

I replaced my front btake(both) 6 month ago when driving loud noise coming from the fronti can feel the brade pad grinding against the rotor when I turn

If you Failed to Tighten Any 1 of the Caliper Floater BOLTS and it Has Fallen Out This Will Cause the Noise you Discribe. Remove the Wheel from the SIDE YOU SUSPECT the NOISE is Coming From and INSPECT the Caliper and Pads, If the Bolts ARE there and Tight Check the Brake PADS and If they are Worn DOWN to Metal The Problem Is LIKEKY the Caliper Has SIEZED UP and Needs REPLACED along With Brake PADS and ROTOR.

Brakes on a 2005 rangers pads and rotors changed 10 months ago. brakes stop car but after the stop the brake pedal gets spongy and depresses further and makes a noise

You more than likely have a master cylinder going out. Also check the backs of your wheels (front and back) for fluid indicating a leaky cyclinder.

2002 Ford Escape 2WD. No drive on passenger wheel.

the reason you could do that was because it does not have positraction in the differential and it is designed that way for when you take turns so each axle can spin at a different speed. and the ginding noise with the brakes can be misinstalled hardware or a warped rotor.

if you had brakes and rotors 6 months ago,did you do just front or just rear?
if you did front and squeal is in front, the new pads got hot and it glazed them, but the rotors are you pulsating pedal, are you sure they did rotors and pads?
there is no way this should be happening in 6 months.

Brakes and rotors making noise

Were metallic brake pads installed? If they were and are hidhly aggressive, yes. Give them a few miles to smooth out.

Front or rear brakes? Emergency brake? Rotor selection, and pad choice may have bearing on life of pads. Also do you tow or haul allot?
