How do i stop air bubbles in holding tank, they are constantly flowing and the car overheats

Can't stop overheating , no water in oil or oil in water but lots of bubbles in holding tank. No moisture on plugs the motor runs smooth as glass. doesn't miss, great power.

I want to thank the experts for their honesty, I knew what was wrong with the car and what needed to be done . My family had a problem believing how bad it really was. Once again thank you for the confirmation.

The bubbles are caused by engine compression leaking from one or more cylinders. Usually caused by overheating that damages the head gasket. not likely but it could be a cracked head or cylinder wall. Chemical repairs do work in many cases. "Bar's leaks block seal, permanent head gasket Fix" Available at your local auto parts store Follow instructions on the container.

What is the temp. of engine coolant ? If you had a scan tool that reads engine sensor data parameters you could see what the Temp sensor is tell the PCM. Cooling fans should come on at 213 degrees , do they ? Pressure test cooling system .Test radiator CAP .https://youtu.be/K5p-G3UDi-A

I wouldn't use any stop leak products , they can clog up the heater core an other parts of the cooling system . You don't mask the problem , you fix it the right way !https://youtu.be/KQo7CghGo1Y

My car overheats, new thermostat, Radiator flushed out Coolant recovery tank replaced, still overheats

If the water pump is moving the coolant, then you may have a bad head gasket allowing combustion gas into the cooling system.Fill the cooling system right to the top and without the cap on watch for a constant flow of bubbles coming to the top.Bubbles?=bad head gasket or a crack.

I have a 1992 buick skylark v6 3300 it is overheating no leaks no oil in the water or water in the oil no antifreeze in te exaust just changed the thermostat

Probably the water pump, when the engine is completely cool, open the radiator cap, start the engine, turn on the heat full, and check to see if you have circulation at the radiator cap nosal you should see movement of water if pump is good....

What can cause it to over heat? the temperature gage only goes three quarters of the way?

A true overheat is when the coolant is bubbling back into the coolant recovery tank. #1 radiator cap not holding pressure #2 stuck thermostat #3 restricted air flow #4 bad fan clutch #5 bad waterpump #6 restricted water flow in radiator #7 blown head gaskets this is the end results to a overheated engine .

Is my dodge ram van 2500 overheating either because of heater core, head gasket or just the thermostat

Hello! Can not tell from the question if your loosing coolant...But it sounds like an air bubble behind the thermostat is blocking the flow...Remove the thermostat...Replace housing...Buy a back flushing kit from an auto parts store...Back flush the cooling system...Make sure heat is on high...Replace thermostat and refill with 50/50...start the engine with radiator cap off...Let all the air bubble out, even after thermostat opens...Wait until upper hose gets hot then replace the cap...Top off in the recovery tank...Now, monitor temperature...If all is well back flushing and air bleeding cleared the fault...If engine overheats due to loss of coolant I'll address that next...If coolant is not being lost does the engine actually overheat? ie..bubbling into recovery tank...If not the temperature sending unit is defective...send a comment...Guru...saailer

Antifreeze reserve tank has air bubbles in after overheating. Changed thermostat and still overheats

  • Well, first thing to do is make sure there is not air in the system. Put the car on some ramps and ,with the engine cooled, start the vehicle and let all the air flow out. Let it run for 20 minutes or so with the defrost on.

  • The majority of the time when bubble are noticed in your reservoir you are seeing an intake leak or a head gasket leak. I never recommend the mechanic in a can stop leak fix. Fix the problem for good. You will want to perform a compression test or have one performed to see where [if] there is a loss of pressure. You can also pull the dipstick to see if the oil looks like chocolate milk. A head gasket leak will not always turn oil a chocolaty color. Depends on the leak. The bubbles are coming from a leak somewhere and the compression test should tell you where.

  • I can say this won't go away until the problem is addressed. You can permanently ruin your engine if you don't fix this. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Hope this helps.

I have a problem with the car overheating. I have had the thermostat replaced, water pump replaced radiator pulled flowed and tested and it still runs hot. I am out of ideas.

the only two things left would be the ect or you have air stuck in the line...MAKE SURE you crank the car and bleed the air from the line with the ac on...I see this many times....but its not preperly bled of air and will cause it to overheat, crank the car,cut the ac wide open, then while the feeder screw removed from the expansion tank allow it to run and u should see air bubbles coming from the hole where the bleeder screw was...once the bubbles stop then put the plastic bleeder screw back into the feeder line. Now finally check the ect coolant sensor connection...if the connection is not good then it will show a overheating reading. Its located at the top of the engine coolant piping that houses the thermostat...try these...one way to tell if the sensor works is if you have the car running, then unplug the sensor it should make the temp reading show hot immediately.Let me know...

2004 audi 1.8t overheats no oil in water or water in oil tank bubbling away could it be water pump?

If the radiator has air bubbles it usually indicates a blown head gasket. It sounds like it has blown between the cylinder and the water jacket, this will cause overheating and pressurizing of the cooling system without mixing of fluids. A garage can check this by putting a pressure gauge on the cooling system. It is advisable not to drive too far, as if it gets worse it can fill a bore with water which can Hydraulic on start up and do some serious damage ( bent conrods etc ). Waterpump issues are usually leaking seals or noisy bearings, it is unusual for them to stop pumping. If the Head gasket is blown it wont hurt to replace the waterpump while the engine is in bits.
