the wires are in a yellow jacket and the sensor is close to the front bumper, just look for the yellow wire, it is very rare that they come lose. more likly the conection in the steering wheel, if the car has lots of miles on it,the wires are in a yellow jacket and the sensor is close to the front bumper, just look for the yellow wire, it is very rare that they come lose. more likly the conection in the steering wheel, if the car has lots of miles on it,

Don't have to have an accident for the light to come on ! There is a code stored in the airbag module pointing to the problem . Could have a sensor problem ,or wiring , or the module could be at fault .
The SDM performs continuous diagnostic monitoring of the SIR system electrical components. Upon detection of a circuit malfunction, the SDM will set a diagnostic trouble (DTC) and inform the driver by commanding the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to turn the AIR BAG indicator ON.
So this light only comes on when there is a malfunction in the system , not an accident . Your best bet is to take it to a ASE certified repair shop or the dealer . People have been kill trying to fix there own airbag systems not knowing how they work or how to properly test them .
Normally the light comes on when airbag fuse is blown. But it could be a bad airbag sensor located at the front of the vehicle. Check fuse first, if that's not it, I would recommend taking it to a mechanic to have sensor changed. They are very delicate sensor and could deploy airbag if not done carefully.
The Sensing and Diagnostic Module for your airbag system is located under the passenger front seat.
NOTE: The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) or "airbag" system in your vehicle can cause serious injury and/or property damage in the event of an accidental deployment. This system should only be serviced by a trained service professional. Service of this system requires having access to the correct service information provided by the vehicle manufacturer and using the proper equipment and servicing techniques.
it is not reccomedned for a non trained technician to attempt diagnosis and/or repair of an airbag system, your life depends on it......now that the legal disclaimer is out of the way ;) flasdhing code as you describe is called a LFC or lamp fault code. the code you speak of is for.... Impact Sensor Status (Front Impact Severity Sensor Circuit Fault). it is common for these vehicles to have a corroded impact sensor, it is located in front of the radiator, the connector and sensor must be replaced (and soldered in for integrity) should it be corroded. i suggest a dealership for this repair as one false move and inadvertant air bag deployment may result...good luck!
I have the same issue (which comes and goes often).
It is caused by a loose wire connection, used for the drivers side airbag located in the seat.. The connector for mine is located under the front drivers seat. There are a couple of connectors that are connected to a bar under the front of the seat. I don't recall which one is used for the Airbag sensor.
Yes, I know that I could do that. But if its a loose wire I could fix it myself. Thanks but no help.
