White smoke usualy mean water vaporizing so you need to see is there a water leak and from where it leaking.
It rained yesterday. Do you think it could be water from the rain? I also noticed a leak underneath, but I put a paper towel under it and it's clear with a slight smell.
No rain water can't produce white smoke under closed hood. Can you describe the smell from the towel and is there any sights of greese substance
What if I drove through puddles last night and the water splashed up?
There really isn't a smell on the paper towel and it is not greasy. It's almost dry from the clear substance. That's why I think it's water. I had it drip on my hand and it had no smell and no greasy feeling
The smoke did have a little bit of a burnt smell, but not overpowering and the smoke wasn't billowing out.
Yes if you drive through some puddles with normal speed but in that case the smoke have to stop for a few minutes
If this is the case then is nothing to worry about. But you still need to check under the engine to see if the plastic covers are not broken or missing because if they are the water can damege car dinamo
I have a call into a mechanic that I am hoping can look at it today. Thank you for your advice.
