Fuel filter change did not take care of the problem car still shuts down after 20 minutes of running will not start again for about 20 minutes anyone know what the next move maybe

Have a pressure check run on your fuel pump. Sounds like fuel pump is ready to totally fail. Just had this happen on my ford expedition. And that was painful changing out fuel pump. Took 4 hours and was a dirty job too

What would cause a 1991 s10 to not start back up

Replace the fuel filter, could be dirty fuel injectors.Check air filter. Also could be a clogged catalytic converter. Bad Fuel pump relay.Your fuel lines could be clogged, blow them out with a air compressor.Maybe try blowing it out first, cost nothing and may be the problem.

1995 trans sport van new fuel pump, won't start

If the pump continued to run after shutting off the car you fuel pump relay was probably staying latched. I would replace the relay as well based on your info. Along with the pump the fuel filter should be replaced too and fuel pressure should be checked. Make sure your ground is good also.

Car was running fine, shut it off, and wil not start, cranks, but does not start

Spray a small amount of fuel in the intake manifold and if car starts then your fuel pump or relays have failed. this is how i found out my fuel pump failed in my truck, it was running great, i shut it off and then it wouldnt start again, after pouring some fuel in the intake it started right up and then died , i changed the fuel pump and she runs great.

I replaced the fuel pump in my corsica because it wasnt cycling. when i took the old one out i tested both sending units and both worked fine. i still replaced it with the new one and it started the car...

The first thing i would check is the fuel pressure. This is a simple procedure and you can probably do this yourself, although you will need some specialty tools. For a full color pictorial on checking fuel pressure, please go here

Ran out gas it wouldnt after i put gas in it i replace the gas filter still nothing

your fuel pump has probably died. When you turn the key to the on position the pump should run for a few seconds then shut off. If it is not then check your fuses and fuel pump relay. Unfortunately the fuel pump uses the fuel as a lubricant, so when you run out of gas you can sieze the pump motor. some people get lucky by banging on the pump or fuel tank while trying to start the car, but really it's probably a dead pump. check for volts at the fuel pump plug while you crank the engine. Make sure your battery is fully charged and in good condition before trying to diagnose the problem.

If your pump is working then you have another problem.

97 silverado 4x4...I changed the oil and filter and it wouldnt start after. I figered out it wasnt getting fuel and I don't here the fuel pump. All relays and fuses check out. Can it be anything else...

you need to check the oil sender unit at the rear of the engine if it does not close the ground to the fuel pump relay it may not start.aka either the sensor or no oil pressure

1996 gmc yukon. replaced fuel pump 3 times in 2 months, finally running then it wouldnt start one day. cranked it over for awhile and nothing. sat 15 min it started right up, drove home shut off, then...

this is a very common problem. GM has issued a service bulletin to replace the wiring connector at the fuel pump assembly on top of the tank. check the end of the plug for burnt terminals. the service bulletin states that these corroded connectors cause a voltage drop that results in repeated pump failures.
