Doors automatically lock and unlock

As I am driving the doors unlock and lock.  I also hear a chirping sound as I am driving.  Is this maybe because someone tried to rig it?

It sounds like a keyless entry system. You may be sitting on an extra set of keys or if you have a keyless transmitter on your keychain that has loose batteries. Leave that keyless transmitter home and use you key to open the door. See if the problem goes away.

Some cars have a menu on the computer display that allows you to silence the chirp when using the keyless. If you have an operators manual it should show several features that can be turned off and on automatically like lights.

If you are the second owner someone may have removed an add on alarm. It would have operated the door locks. An alarm installer may be able to fix this quicker and cheaper than a dealer.

If you are handy with tools you could try to remove the door lock switches. Start with the drivers side. Disconnect battery first, you may have to take off door panel or if it is in the console dig around.

Tape wires, reconnect battery and drive it to see if it helped. Then the door switch is the problem.

With the door key. Then lubricate the door latch and outside door handle linkage with WD- 40 . You'll have to take the door panels off to do that.

My 2001 ford focus keeps locking. The power locks automatically lock as soon as I unlock them, barely enough time to open door.

Your Focus may be equipped with the autolock feature. Try this:

To deactivate/reactivate the autolock feature using the power door unlock control

You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds.

1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition key from ON to OFF.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to ON. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control.
The horn will chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete.

My horn doesn't chirp when I lock the doors.

My chevy doesn't chirp on the first press of the lock button, it just locks. If you press it again, then it chirps. To be honest, I like the fact that it doesn't chirp first - that just draws attention to the fact that you left your vehicle.

My 1998 nissan pathfinder auto door lock clicks when im driving and locks automatically when I unlock the truck

That sounds like a possible bad door lock switch to me. I have also seen defective door lock control modules cause the same symptoms. These things can also cause your battery to drain because it is probably also doing this when the vehicle is shut off. The power lock solenoids in the doors will also bedestroyed if it is allowed to continue.

If you cannot get it diagnosed and repaired right away, I recommend unplugging your door lock control module to prevent furter damage to the vehicle. Yours is located under the dash next to the fuse block. (See picture)

This feature prevents the driver’s door from locking while the key is in
the ignition. This feature will unlock only the driver’s door if the key is in
the ignition cylinder, the driver’s door is ajar and all doors are locked
using the interior trim switch. If these conditions are met, the entire
vehicle will lock and the driver’s door will unlock within 1 second.

Doors wont all lock at the same time on my '95 saab 9000cs. i have to manually lock them individually. My dashboard lights flicker, sometimes the lights will stay on and sometimes i have to tap the switch...

When you use your remote or insert your key in the Drivers Front door all the door locks should work at the same time by the door lock motors electrically. If you have to manually unlock the door because it will not lock or unlock by the lock motor, you need a door lock motor. The drivers and passengers front doors can unlocked with the key manually only. The rear doors you have to pull up the latch.
If NONE of doors unlock electrically with the remote or drivers door lock, intermittently or all the time, you will need a Central Locking Electronic Control Module. Pressing the remote button you will hear the "beep", but no door locks will fire at all.
If you have a few odd door locks not working intermittently or not at all, you will need a new door lock motor for each door lock that malfunctions. You can hear if the door locks are working electrically. Yes, they are common problem.
If you can hear the door lock motor working but the door still doesn't unlock you need to take the door panel off and lubricate the door latch assembly and work the lock, loosening it up. This is common as well.
Sometimes a bad door lock motor can blow the central locking fuse. You will notice it because it will take a second or two longer to lock and unlock compared to the others. If the door lock motors seem fine, install a the next step up in amperage fuse. (From 15 AMP to a 20 AMP)

Auto door locking on Ford Mondeo

It sounds like it has been deactivated so we are going to reactivate the auto lock.

The numbers I will be saying will have to do with getting this to work so:
you will need to put the key in to the ignition switch.

1= is back to listen to the radio
2= is to get key out
3= is just before you start
4= is for starting your car

When we do this 1 and 4 will not be used
Do this and we will hope that it works like it should:

1: Turn the ignition with you key up to on( don't start)

2: Press the power door lock control 3 times

3: now turn the key back once (to off position)

4: Press the power door unlock control 3 times

5: ok turn the ignition back up 1 time. (The horn should chirp)

6: Then press the unlock control, then press the lock control, again (horn will chirp 1's) If auto lock
was activated.

7: Turn the ignition back 1's, Then the horn should chirp once to confirm the procedure was completed.
