I have a 1992 Buick Roadmaster. How do I go about replacing the distributor cap and rotor button? Are there special tools required to remove the above items? If so, what are they?

no special tools. phillips screwdriver is all you need. critical part is getting wires on the right terminals. You first have to identify the proper orientation of the cap. It only goes on one way. Look for the tang on the cap that must fit into the notch in the housing. Align the old and new caps and move the wires one by one from the old cap to the new cap. Then use the screwdriver to turn each of the 4 retaining lugs. You push down on the screwdriver and turn them CCW about a quarter to a half turn. The cap should then come off. The rotor is there underneath. Remove the 2 screws and install the new rotor--it only goes on one way. Put the cap on, making sure the tang fits into the notch. The lugs should go back easily if the cap is on right. That's it, you're done. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Where to put brake fluid

There should be a cap on the master cylinder that you need to remove to put in more fluid. Make sure the cap is tight when you put it back on.

How do you replace the distributor cap on a 92 Buick Roadmaster?

Your just gonna have to feel it out. Th new screws should stay in the cap. If not a little vaseline will keep it there. I had to do the same thing with mine. A real pain it the **** and bad design by GM.

The port is located in the larger of the 2 lines coming from the AC compressor, the charging port will be somewhere on that line with a plastic cap over it, the line goes into a part called an accumulator, it is about the size of a 1lb can of coffee, the port may be there as well, it varies from model to model.
