Question about 1994 Toyota 4Runner

1 Answer

I have a 94 4Runner V-6 A/T. My A/T oil light comes on intermitly. When it first started doing this I could drive 30 to 50 miles on the freeway before it came on. Now it comes on as soon as I get on the freeway. Also last night I wasnt on the freeway and it came on 4 times within a 20 minute drive. The wierd thing is usually after it comes on I can shut of the truck for as little as 30 seconds start it up and it doesnt come on as long as I dont drive the freeway. When this first started I installed an aftermarket transmission cooler to see if this would help. Oh and the transmission fluid seems to disapper. There are no leaks underneth and not tranny fluid in the radiator. Could this be a solienod or transmission temp sensor. If so where are these located?

I am currently looking into the problem, trying to find the tranny oil pressure sensor location as i have never done it on a 4runner before, and i believe i might have found something that would be of great use to you. Will let you know how in turns out in a few minutes.

Had found a torrent containing the service manuals for you vehicule, but seems the torrent won't start even if there is some sources and clients, so will let you know how that turns out and will contine searching for now to try and at least answer you question even if I don't have the whole service manuals.

Double Eureka! I think you're gonna like me after all:p lol Found the service manual directly on the web with no torrent required or anything. So here is the direct link to the section that lists the placement of components. The one you need is I 7 which is the first bubble on top left of the diagram on the 2nd page, check a bit lower and it will say I 7 :
Indicator SW (for Transfer Position, A/T 3VZ–E), S 1 Start Injector Time SW

Transfer Fluid Temp. Sensor (for 3VZ–E) and S 2 Starter

Transfer Oil Pressure SW (for ADD 3VZ–E)

So it's not a detailed picture but it still gives you a good idea of where it is and which harness it is plugged into so it will be easier to find. And as for the whole service manual both mechanical and electrical from A to Z and is a direct copy of the real toyota service manuals, here is the address:

    Hope this helped! Enjoy!:)

08 dodge charger I haven't drove 5 miles out. While driving on the freeway the oil light comes on and the car shuts off in traffic. Oil stick was dry so I added a quart still won't start up

You probably need to take it to a dealer to have it reset. If the motor isn't blown, there could be a safety shut off sensor that saved your motor from blowing up. Good luck

Oil light and battery light came on and sounded like car shut off. 07 Hyundai accent

The timing belt is supposed to be changed at 80,000 miles. Dont let it come apart on you. Intake and exhaust valve damage can occur if not corrected. Sounds like its missing teeth allowing timing to walk

Cold auto Transmission won't shift into 3 gear until after driving 1 mile or so (driving at about 35 mgh) pickup then downshifts from 3 to 2nd then back to 3rd a few times untill I get to work (7 miles...

Sounds like a bad speed sensor. Perform an ODBII scan soon. ECU should delay upshift until coolant temp senses warm up. It will not work right unless a signal is present from speed sensor.

Oil light comes on intermitently. Oil & filter last changed 2,500 miles ago. Oil level is full and clean. Where is the oil pressure sensor/switch?

if you change oil every 2,500 miles , maybe is a oil pump failure, if not , then remove engine oil pan and clean oil pump strainer, use good quality oil

Oil pressure guage intermitently falls to zero when idling. The dashboard "check gauge" light comes on. Has happened on three different occasions out of about 20 driving excursions. When it isn't happening...

My jeep also has started doing this. I replaced the oil pressure sensor. Sensor on the 4.7 is above the oil filter, follow the wires, typicaly is a 1 1/16 socket.

Oil light goes on...had a dry stick 4 1/2 qts put in. no oil on ground. after oil change light went on at 70 miles.. on 15 secs then off for 5 miles then on again 15 secs--- off 4 miles--off 3 miles- off 2...

if it's not going onto the ground, and it's not being burned, check the positive crankcase ventilation and the exhaust gas recirculation valves for oil seepage...also check your air filter, if its got oil on it replace the pcv valve.
