SOURCE: Squeak and slight vibration heard and felt in steering column at low speeds (Parking lots, etc)
Get a friend to turn wheel back and forth in the garage, get on the ground and use your hands to feel where the noise is coming from. Metal gives off a significant amount of vibrations with noise. Should be easy to tell where it's coming from. Could be your rack and pinion, however I would be much more willing to consider ball joints. Hard to tell without getting "down and dirty" on the floor under the vehicle feeling for the noise.
Could be your steering gearbox, tierod end, rack and pinion piston, low power steering fluid, bad serp belt, ball joints, front struts/mounting hardware.
Also test steering with the entire vehicle on the floor and with the front end off the ground lifted by a few floor jacks lifting on the frame of the vehicle.
Ball joints especially on Ford vehicles tend to squeak after a while (mostly since they are the sealed type) even if they pass a safety inspection.
SOURCE: severe bearing noise from front wheel bearing/cv
you have to replace bearing and hub as a unit.you have to remove remove brakes and caliper rotor set them aside dont disconnect brake line. get a piece of clothes rack wire to hold brake caliper .do not let it hang by brake hose. you got to remove hub nut. best way to do that is loosen it a litttle while tire still on weight of car keep wheel from turning .
SOURCE: changing a wheel bearing, 2003 mazda 6
to change that, using a hydraulic press is highly recommended. if you are DIY experienced, this trick works as well:
take a pice of a stable metal pipe, 10-20 cm long. and in diameter just a tick smaller than gross bearing size. take a very heavy tool and use the pipe to beat out the old bearing. dont be shy, needs a lot of power.
do not use this method to insert the new bearing. use a pice of wood instead (must sit stable on the outer bearing ring!!), lubircate a bit and beat carfully and very straigt in fractions of a mm. this is the difficult part and here the bearing may brake if you are too rough.
Not really recommend, but working when used with brain and care.

SOURCE: volvo xc90 2004 buzzing in steering wheel, clunck noise under car
that sounds like you are low on power steering fluid ... when the level gets low then the pump starts to ingest air and that produces a buzzing sound when you turn the wheel .....i would add or change the fluid and check for leaks and mechanical loosness in the under car linkages ...you can have that checked at your next oil change .
Testimonial: "Thank you, you were right I took the car in and they said the steering fluid was low. "
