97 Jeep TJ sport - Clutch Pedal has gone limp

I have a 97 Jeep TJ sport 4.0L

I was driving home from work yesterday, i pushed in the clutch to shift from 1st to 2nd gear, and i hear a pop or snap (more felt than heard), and all of a sudden my clutch pedal goes limp.

I managed to drive it home in first gear very slowly, so when i began to park in my parking stall, i put it in neutral put on the brake and shut the jeep off.

I did some inspection but i can't see any fluid leaks under the dash, in the engine compartment or at the secondary slave. The fluid level inside the resevoir seems low, but
i'm not sure if it was that way before or after this all happend.

Also... When i checked under the dash for leaks, i noticed that the clutch pedal is now stiff and won't budge (in the top position)

Does anyone know what it could be?
Any help would be appreciated!

Yes it is a hydraulic clutch. I checked for leaks inside under the dash, and all the way from the master clutch cylinder to the slave cylinder on the bell housing, but didn't find anything.

Same thing happened to me in a Suzuki SJ 410, it was the clutch cable that broke.

Check out clutch and pressure plate.pressure plate springs could have been too weak.

It's possible your clutch fork broke. Also, check to see if it's a hydraulic clutch. You could have a leak in the hydraulic system. Both would cause your clutch pedal to go to the floor.

I have a 1989 jeep wrangler. yesterday, after the stick shift felt stiff to shift, the clutch felt suddenly loose. Today, the stick shift stopped moving completely while i was driving. Finally, I was able...

Sounds like you are having a clutch problem. The sudden looseness in the clutch pedal indicates a problem with either the hydralic system, (slave or master or line) leaking or clutch pressure plate going out. Check your clutch fluid resevoir first, if low look for a leak under the vehicle, have a friend push the clutch and get underneath to find leak.
