My 95 saturn sometimes stall and dies(or jus flat out dies) when I slow down or come to a stop. If I give it some gas when it stalls it runs fine but if I dont give it gas it cuts off. any suggestions?

thx for the comments but i have already given it a tune up. changed oil and filter, air filter, spark plugs and wires, and a fuel filter i think. Ive used premium gas, octane booster and fuel injector cleaner. recently put in a new radiator(old 1 had a hole), new coolant temp sensor, new battery, ignition switch. will be changing the starter soon(bad solenoid). The prob im having now was there before and after all this work. Driving on the highway i doubt will help cuz I drove it 16hrs to get to NY and no probs. Automatic 1.9 liter DOHC 4-cyl, milage is 155,038

More than likely a charging issue. Otherwise the cars idle setting has changed (Unlikely) If your alternator is not putting out 13.5-14.5v at idle, your car will indeed stall. If you get this checked at an autoparts store, make sure they test both at the alternator and at the battery, since a bad cable can lead to the same problem with a good alternator. Good Luck

Hello, If you have never used a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, now is the time to purchase a bottle. Get to a gas station, pour it in gas tank before your fill up- do fill it so you will have enough gas in tank for the requirements of 10 to 20 gallons as listed on the bottle you buy. Read the instructions. Check your air cleaner at the same time to see if it needs replacement. Take a steady ride on the highway foe 20 minutes and as you come off highway and are decelerating softly toe tap the gas pedal without providing any pedal movement. Watch your rpm's at the stop and don't expect immediate results unless you get lucky.(don't hit the car in front of you) is a good reminder hear. drive the car through this tank of gas with the added cleaner and you may have to use your foot on pedal to prevent stalling until cleaner works. next post try to list more info-milage, maintenance, etc. Try it and get back.

Give it a oil change and put a new fuel filter on it. you might have to change spark plugs and spark plug wires. also put some engine and fuel treatment. if that does not work put about 5 gallons of premium fuel in.

Idles roughly, then low when stopped or in park, then dies. Decreasing gas mileage. Slow to accelerate

Sometimes that's caused by a vacuum leak near the manifold area.

Sometimes air in the coolant will cause an idle problem. Air will keep the air temp sensor from sending proper info.
Hope this helps.

i think your exhaust might have a leak which is heating up your oil when this happens the engine suffocates and wants to die.

2000 323i stalling when i slow down

Here is what you need to do, a cleaning of the intake throttle blade and the idle speed control air-bypass valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours,
Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the engine at idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
