Question about 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

My tork converter is spinning while driving - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

    While driving my RPM gage increases, when I give it gas the transmission engages again. The tech put a computer on it and found that the torque converter was spinning when it should be engaged. They said the torque converter it's spinning at a number of like 550 unengaged, when it should be zero.

1994 chevy cvalier 3.1 engine...lately it's been shutting off when i come to stop. the oil pressure fluctuates and then shuts off. it always starts back up. any suggestions?

if this unit has an over drive tork converter the tork converter or the TC valve (solenoid) might be faulty, have you tried keeping your foot on the gas a bit to keep it running ? and what happens ? also some engines have a low oil pressure warning and engine cut out , did you check your oil ???

Torque converter question.

I am going to say no, but id a possibility here is how I believe it works the converter would be Free spinning and not locked up spinning at low rpm so the hydroloics pressure is at minimum the steering when would have nothing to do wit it. However Ford has changes all the time in 2002 They connected the Ac to run threw the transmission so the transmission computer disengages the AC pump when you hit the gas and drops it into passing gear by flooring the fuel pedal this drops out the ac and also the power steering pressure if your not tuning the wheel this cuts out the power steering pump pressure switch so killing compressor is to gain another 5 House power you more horse power it is conceivable there is a hidden circuit in the computer system to cause a tork converter malfunction of the computer but I don't thing there is, the reason they would kill the power steering and a/c would be to gain 5 horse power for both ac and power steering which would give you added tork when it drops it into passing gear if you floor it. However I think the guy is misinformed. even if the transmission ran the power steering system it would have a system in place to by pass the tork converter I hope this helps. If you need any more information feel free for my opinion on this. The tork converter only goes into lockup in certain conditions. your description does not fit tork converter lock up. You could damage your tork converter if you have the transmission in drive and the brakes on and revved up the engine to 2000 rpms for more than 20 seconds you could balloon the tork converter up and cause it to destroy the fins in the tork converter That is the only way to damage it unless it was low on transmission fluid or some totally strange problem. I Have worked on a dozen of these cars and newer and have worked with Ford for 18 years. so the only way to be sure would be to buy a subscription to and research the power train system and look at recalls or campaigns that might cover this. thanks for using fix-ya.

I have a 1986 pontiac parisienne and the transmisiion acts ups ONLY once the motor gets hot, when I come to a stop the car kinda jerks and stutters and if i stio real suddenly it kills the motor what is...

soulds like you have a tork converter thats locking can unhook the wires to the tork converter...this is stop it from locking in...the trans will still just wont have the lockup converter working..its supposed to save fuel...but i had one i drove for many years with it unhooked and didnt make any difference

Transmision instalation

Did you make sure the torque converter was properly seated on the input shaft of the transmission. In oder to do this you need to spin the torque converter and push it into the transmission so as to spline the torque converter into the input shaft of the transmission. Be patient and keep spinning and pushing and it will spline up.

Power loss on hills converter stinks

oh dear???? its going to be pricy pall! the tork converter is about to lock up on you, check the ATF oil is full and wipe a little of it from the stick onto the back of your hand, look closly at it for any metal bits in it, if there is any bit its a replcment gearbox as well as the converter is braking up inside, when this happens you will loss all drive in all gears

Transmission completely quit working with no noise. Reverse worked for 10 min and the quite as well.

It sounds like you may have a sun gear failure. Before we go there check the fuse for the transmission, make sure it's still good. Good luck and keep me posted.
