No serviceable filter in transmission. Kia requires trans.fluid to be changed every 30,000 miles. A simple drain and fill will do.

I can not find the plug for the transmission fluid on my 2001 kia optima, do u know where it is?

most automatic transmissions & transaxles are drained by removing the bottom pan, allowing access to the filter as well.normal service life of transmission oil is 100K miles on most cars.fill transmission through dipstick tube,do not over fill.
