Question about 2004 Dodge Caravan
Hi,if your prepared to go to component level and strip and rebuild ,the following should be quite easy, first locate the power supply wire to the motor in question with a low amps probe attached you should be able to see the amp draw on the motor(snap-on Modis has this),if it pulls normal amps and then spikes this is why it cuts out (trips) so,check it has a good earth connection,if good then time to strip out the motor and carefully strip apart untill you can see the comutator and the carbon brushes,if the brushes are burnt out then you might be able to replace them,if they are ok then just clean the comutator where the brushes contact with a very fine emery cloth untill bright and shiny (brass colour)
reinstall and see if it works if not no choice but to buy a new motor,it would pay you to take the module out and check the circuit board for dry joints on the relays and check for good continuity on the wire from the module to the motor, hope this works for you, good luck.

If you really did shut the door on an obstruction you may have knocked it out of allignment. You said that it trys to latch but will not.n The locking mechanism is very touchy when it comes to alignment.
You can carefull bend the square catch to the right place. You may be right about the latch motor, they do go bad
I had a stuck trung lid the other day that I fixed with one shot of wd40 and a zip tie. Worst case is you hjave to get a new latch motor. I can give you a list of avaiable places. Please let mw know if there is anything I can help you through.
