I just recently replaced my clutch. Make absolutely sure there isn't a bolt still in place (like a bolt for the Bell housing splash plate). Also make sure nothing is obstructing the transmision from backing out completely, including the motor mount or a bracket you may have missed. Once you're sure of those things, it should come off. I used a crow bar an pry off the housing evenly on all sides. If everything is unhooked, there's no other reason why it shouldn't come right off with a little prying.

Why won't my 2007 grand prix go forward??

Depending on mileage and care...100K+ could mean low on tranny fluid (1) dirty clogged tranny fluid & filter (2) wheel bearing worn/locked? If you think it is dirty/low on tranny fluid, try adding a bottle or 2 of Lucas Oil Transmission Stabilizer...works great without draining anything...try this first...any other symptoms?

My 94 grand marquis shut off seconds after a loud grinding noise that sounded like it was coming from the front left hand side. I tried turning it back on after it happened and the check engine and oi

I interpret this as the Passengers side of your car. Usually the serpentine belt breaks when the A/C compressor seizes. That is the part which is probably grinding or the A/C clutch bearing is seized.

Although this is Winter, the Defroster is made to activate the compressor to lube it during the Winter. Now the pulley that turns the compressor has a clutch bearing. It is ALWAYS turning when the engine is on except when electricity is applied to the compressor clutch and it locks and turns the A/C compressor shaft.

What needs to be done now is to determine if the A/C clutch bearing is bad or if the A/C compressor is bad. Most A/C clutch bearings can be removed and replaced. SOME of the bearings within the A/C clutch can be changed and then they are as good as new.

The procedure for replacing the bearing is 1 step beyond replacing the entire A/C clutch. The fan shroud must be removed, the serpentine belt must come off, then a small bolt and a retaining clip must be removed and the clutch slid off the compressor.

There is no need to remove the compressor or lose Freon. The bearing situation can be determined once the serpentine belt is removed and the parts turned by hand.

Ford ranger, gears are in a different position, Reverse is in the neutral, neutral is in the D and drive is in 2nd gear........dont' know how it happened...was driving and noticed it was in the 2 position....

on the side of the tranny where your shiftier cable connects to your linkage with a plastic piece that will either be broke or has slid to the side if it has only slid to the side and the groves on both plastic pieces are good then you will need a friend to help with adjustment to get it back to where it is supposed to be easiest way to adjust is to put tranny linkage in park then have friend move leaver and hold leaver wile sliding plastic pieces together to lock them into place.

I'm in need of schematic to rebuild a m27 getrag 284 in my sons 1991 grand prix. purchased new bearings but found a piece loose in the bottom of the tranny case. trying to find where it goes. thanks for...

There is a schematic in the Factory Repair Manual for this transmission. I repaired mine approximately 5 years ago, it was an easy thrust washer. I was able to find a tranny shop that had a used tranny for parts, because you can't buy any parts for these. I could not even cross reference the bearings.

Oil leaking from front of tranny 85 bronco II 4x4

Check the oil level in your transmission, I take it that it's a standard so your going to have to do it by removing the fill plug and felling for fluid. If it's low then you are losing transmission fluid though the front input shaft bearing and seal. Check the hydraulic clutch fluid, see if your losing some fluid there too, You may have a small leak bell housing.
Good luck and keep me posted.

I have and 03 Toyota hilux turbo deisel and there seems to be a whistling noise coming from the gear box, but if I rest my foot on the clutch it goes away. Would you know what this might be?? Regards...

Sound like the diaphragm springs on the pressure plate. are being worn by the release bearing. The release bearing seizes up and causes a whistling sound when parked, with out clutch depressed. You will eventually. lose you clutch if you let this persist. The best thing you can do is replace the clutch pressure, clutch, reliese bearing, and pilot bearing. All this comes with a clutch kit.
I also recomend resurfacing your flywheel.

-to remove your pilot bearing you can fill the hole with grease and take a 3/8 extention and hit the extention into hole. this usual allows the pilot bearing to come out.

I bet your pressure plate will look like this
