Where is the number one cylinder? - 1985 Nissan Pickup

Dodge use a system called a "Lost Spark Ignition". Basically each coil fires two spark plugs on two different cylinders at the same time every time. One firing for the ignition stroke and the during the exhaust stroke on the other cylinder. Simply, a spark fired every other stroke on every cylinder. That means it only needs 3 coil packs on a V6 engine.
Your firing Order is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Cylinder numbers are set as Odds and Evens. Stand with the belts and pulleys nearest to you. The cylinders on the Left side are the Odd numbers and the cylinders on the Right side are the Even Numbers. The cylinder on the LEFT side nearest to you is number 1. The middle one is number 3 and the one furthest away is number 5. The cylinder on the RIGHT side nearest to you is number 2. The middle one is number 4 and the one furthest away is number 6.

Low compression on cylinder number 1 and cylinder number 2 on a 2000 Toyota Solara 2.2L engine could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few possibilities:

1. Worn or damaged piston rings: The piston rings seal the combustion chamber and maintain compression. If the rings are worn or damaged, they may not be able to seal the combustion chamber properly, resulting in low compression.
2. Damaged or worn valves: The valves allow air and fuel to enter the combustion chamber, and allow exhaust gases to exit. If the valves are damaged or worn, they may not be able to seal the combustion chamber properly, resulting in low compression.
3. Damaged or worn cylinder walls: The cylinder walls are what the pistons move against. If the walls are damaged or worn, they may not be able to maintain proper compression.
4. Head gasket failure: The head gasket seals the combustion chamber and prevents compression from escaping. If the head gasket is damaged or blown, compression can escape, resulting in low compression.
5. Leak in the intake or exhaust system: a leak in the intake or exhaust system can cause low compression.

The dry compression test you did on cylinder 1 and 2, 80 PSI and 60 PSI respectively, are not within the normal range and indicate low compression. The wet compression test results are also not within the normal range, 95 PSI and 85

There should be a coil pack for each spark plug so you should have 6 in total, 3 each side. If the coil packs are numbered that number will most likely refer to the cylinder it is for. Coil pack Number 1 is for Cylinder 1, Coil pack Number 2 is for Cylinder 2 and so on.
The cylinders are numbered like this. Stand with the engine beltsand pulleys nearest to you. The RIGHT side of the engine is the ODD numbers and the LEFT side of the engine is the EVEN numbers.
Number 1 is the cylinder nearest to you on the Right side. Number 3 is the middle cylinder on the Right and cylinder Number 5 is the one on the Right that is furthest away from you.
The LEFT side is number 2 nearest to you, Number 4 in the middle and number 6 furthest away from you.

Firing order is correct, (1, 3, 4, 2). Cylinders are numbered as 1, 2, 3, 4. Number One cylinder is nearest the belts and pulleys and number 4 is nearest the transmission/gearbox end. Stand in front of the car and face the rear of the vehicle. Cylinder 1 is to your left and Cylinder 4 is to your right.

Cylinder number three is located on Bank one. Bank one is the right side (Passenger side). From the front the first cylinder (closest to the front) is Cylinder one. The next cylinder behind number one is number three and the last cylinder of that bank is cylinder number five. Let me know if there is anything else. Good Luck.

Is number 1 on tdcc or tdci? It should be tdcc with both number one cylinder valves closed as they would be on number one tdcc. I have no idea why you would be rocking number 5 cylinder valves with number one on tdcc or otherwise. The valve and ignition timing needs to be set correct on number one tdcc and then all others will fall into their correct timing also.

A Chilton or Haynes manual will show that. Sometimes under the hood is a picture showing how the vacuum lines and belts go, it just may mention the plug wires...........

Since you don't say if you have 4 or a 6 cyl, I will give you both.On a 4 cyl count from the front of the engine. The belt pulley is the front.On a 6 cylinder, one bank of cylinders is more forward that the other. On the forward bank the the front cylinder is number 1, so the front cylinder on the other bank is number 2. So number 3 is next to number 1. The second cylinder on the forward bank.

- The first oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/1.
- The second oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/2.
- A third oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 1 would be numbered O2 Sensor 1/3.
- The first oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 2 is numbered O2 Sensor 2/1.
- The second oxygen sensor in cylinder bank # 2 is numbered O2 Sensor 1/1.



- If a V-6 or V-8 vehicle only uses one downstream Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) it is numbered O2 Sensor 1/2, even if it uses two upstream HO2S.
