Go to (www.repairpal.com) it will give you prices for your area. All you do is enter your vehicle info, and what repair(s) and it calculates price according to labor & parts prices in your area.

Cx 7 mazda cel codes P0011 and P0016

Causes may include:
  • Timing chain stretched, or timing belt skipped a tooth due to wear
  • Misalignment of timing belt/chain
  • Tone ring on crankshaft slipped/broken
  • Tone ring on camshaft slipped/broken
  • Bad crank sensor
  • Bad cam sensor
  • Damaged wiring to crank/cam sensor
  • Timing belt/chain tensioner damaged
  1. First, visually inspect the cam and crank sensors and their harnesses for damage. If you notice broken/frayed wires, repair and recheck.
  2. If you have access to a scope, check the cam and crank patterns. If a pattern is missing, suspect a bad sensor or a slipping tone ring. Remove the cam gear and the crankshaft harmonic balancer and inspect the tone rings for proper alignment and make sure they're not loose or damaged or that they haven't sheared the key that aligns them. If they are properly installed, replace the sensor.
  3. If the signal appears normal, then check the timing chain/belt for proper alignment. If it's misaligned, check for a damaged tensioner that may have allowed the chain/belt to slip a tooth or several teeth. Also check that the belt/chain isn't stretched. Repair and recheck

Will crank but won't start no revs. Help! Just had fuel pump replaced, and have had new engine previous

How many miles do you have on the new engine? Did you install it yourself? Was it a long or short block install? Was the timing belt on the replacement engine new? Does the engine crank over faster than what would seem normal? If your engine has more than 80K miles on it, you may have a broken timing belt.

No just finished a valve replacement on 92 geo tracker 8v eng. set crank to TDC on #4 cyl and the cam to the proper alignment notch on rear valve cover and installed the new timing belt. However after all...

When timing belts are installed, the normal position of the crankshaft is for #1 cylinder to be at TDC. Here is a picture of the timing belt routing and the timing marks.

Water leak at the timing belt cover

Inside the timing belt cover the pulley that the timing belt goes areound other than the crank and the cam is the water pump. You describe the water pump as failed. Remove the belt with the timing belt marks lined up and replce the pump and install a new belt as you reassamble the car and your good to go another 80 thousand miles. Replace the regular belts too and you'll have this area of service qwork all covered and replace the antifreeze mixture while your doing it as pumps don't normally fail until the antifreze is drity and old.

Water Leaking from belt side of engine on a 1996 Camry.

hi, is it just water? or does it look more like coolant? if just water, and seems to only leak when a/c or defrost is used, this would likely be the evaperator drain tube letting moisture out. this is normal. but if looks like coolant(reddish pink, or possibly green) this likely means you have a leaking water pump. the water pump is driven by timing belt which is located behind the timing cover directly behind the drive belts. if/when you go to get it repaired, the timing belt should be replaced at the same time. also, you may want to have the timing belt tensioner, and timing belt pulleys relpaced at this time as well, it's good insurance for any repairs that may be needed later down the road after service. make sure to have the drive belts checked when repairing timing belt, they will be removed during repair, if they need to be replaced due to wear, re-install new ones at no extra labor charge.

2000 VW passat timing belt replacement

80 000miles(120 000km) is recomended by the dealer but it's safer at 40 000miles(60 000km) its safer for town driving and cold conditions considering the diffirence between a cambelt change and a replacemnet engine and downtime.

Timing belt changed by normal mechanic

Any certified can replace it, it does not have to be changed by the dealer. In fact any ASE certified mechanic can do this without losing your warranty if it has one, they an also do other work as well. Normally the independent shops charge slightly less than the dealer. If it's under warrenty yo could take it in but they will charge you for it and they are not cheep.
