I had a qualified mechanic looking at it and he can't spot any leaks. He's had it three times and he is a good mechanic, so far he won't charge me because he says he only gives a bill if he fixes it.

I was wondering if the inside button that you push for air could be the problem, but I guess not because the freeon is always empty.

A lot of times the leaks on Air systems is the front seal on the compressor. Sometimes it is very difficult to see. Are you sure it is leaking? Did you check your pressures?

I put freeon in my 2001 hyundai sante fe and its still blowing out warm air

If you put freon and the system still seems to be leaking then this means you have a leak in the system. Head to your nearest auto repair shop and have them do an a/c check. They will use a special dye that will pin point exactly where the leak is coming from. After you fix the leak, the repair shop can offer you an a/c revac and recharge to fill you whole system with freon after the leak is repaired.

Hope This Helps!

No cold air coming out of air condition just hot air

Check you ac belt under the hood is not slipping. Check that your ac clutch is engaging.
Check your freeon level.
It is possible you may have a freeon leak. The mechanics will use a dye to determine if you have a leak and where it is. The leak will be repaired and new freeon put in.

Is it hazardous to breathe in the air from a leaky ac that is leaking into the cab? We wanted to have it recharged but the mechanic says that it's dangerous because it's leaking into the cab. Is that...

Yes freeon is designed to work in a closed environment and is not safe for breathing. There's no point in recharging if you have a leak as it will leak out in about a week or so and you will have wasted your money. They will use a dye to locate where the leak is and repair it. Then it can be charged and it will hold a charge.

The freeon want stay in

There's a leak in your ac system. Have a shop trace the leak. They would pump in a dye to locate the leak. It usually leaks in the compression seal

I got freeon put in my car and a day later it leaked out. i was told that freeon was leaking from my accumulator stem so i got a new one. then i was told that i needed a new compressor got one and filled...

Call the better Business bureau if you are in the states. if they havent fixed your system thats a huge issue at this point and you have rights.
But back to your problem. The evaporator is normally the first thing to spring a leak. If you are leaking freon there would be the first place to check. Add dye to the system and top it off making sure to have the UV flashlight ready. If the evap is leaking the dye should end up under the car as the condensor drains will empty there. Also check hoses and fitting.
Next get a can of freon with stop leak, a big can and add freon with car running a/c on full blast and keep the pressure at 35 psi as it cycles and drops pressure add more freon. this will take 5-10 minutes to get the system full. When the car is full the low side will read high like about 75 psi which is normal.
Only 1 problem tho if your system has had a bad leak and open to the air, the dryer should be replaced before you put new freon into it. That dryer takes internal moisture and keeps it from freezing in the system.

its probley leaking in the evaporator you cannot see it without removing the dash see if anyone that you know has a freon sniffer then lacated the drain tube for the evaporator case most of the time its located on the fire wall on the right lower area with a full charge use the sniffer and see if indicates a leak

On my 2004 xterra, the compressor operates, but a/c blows hot air. i have charged it and that lasted 1 day. now hot air again.

The engine drive belt operates the AC compressor. The OUTER pulley on the compressor , where the belt is, is always turning when the engine is running. When the AC is turned on, a CLUTCH on the compressor is engaged and connects the outer pulley to the compressor shaft. So, when the compressor is actually working, the outer pulley AND the inner ring just behind the outer pulley are both turning. When the AC is off (or not working correctly, as in your case), only the outer pulley turns.

It sounds like there is a major leak somewhere in the system. If you want to try and to find the leak yourself, there is a product in auto parts stores that is made for this. It is a canister, like the refrigerant used to charge the system, that will blow out a dye in the system, where the leak is. This can help you identify where the leak is ....If this info was helpful, please post... Thanks...

Freeon has leaked out two times when I have replaced it - I don't know if the problem is the condensor or the compressor.

probabley you have a evap leak, hard to have to add dye to ac system and check for leaks.most likely you will have to replace the evap in the plentium.sorry

A/c problem

If the compressor is not engaging then you probably have a leak somewhere. The light is more than likely tied into the pressure switchs and ecm.So it is flashing to let you know there is a,low on refrigerant.Charge it up and put dye in the system. Then use a strong black light to find where the dye is leaking...Good Luck!!!
