Question about 1988 Jeep Cherokee

Eratic idle speed,slows to near stop then revs to normal for about 25 seconds before slowing again, shakes violently. overheats after about 20 minutes of driving, new thermostat, new water pump, new radiator

Rough eratic idling


Check the idle air bypass valve see if dirty, cleanable unit. you check the working of valve by powering the unit with 12 volts. check map sensor too.

Had a firebird act similar to that had a bad coil pack replaced it the spark plugs and wires and ran fine.

2002 explorer idle shake & no rev


bad intake not enough air to the cylinders, spark plugs could be a prob, or ur car is running to lean...i hate a similar prob with it shakeing when idleing but i just tap the gas and it stops
