It is very possible that the clutch plate is in the wrong way round and the clutch hub is hitting on the flywheel bolts

means a box out again and the pressure plate off to change the clutch plate around

SOURCE: Refilling transmission fluid - manual 5-speed.

dextron mercron 3, automatic transmission fluid. Mostly standard on fords and others for both auto and manual trans. Underneath the air intake pipe, at the rear right hand side there is a 4 prong plug for the speed sensor. Its electronic so there wont be any cable, its a round sensor with a horizontal plug on the end of it. Take a flat head screwdriver and pry the 2 holding prongs off the wiring harnes. then get a #10 socket 1/4in drive with exstinsions works best take out the bolt going right with the rachet. once you get it out just pull and twist the sensor out. It seems to be easier with a hose at the end of the funnel to pour the fluid in. stick the hose where the speed sensor was. once its full just assemble it back the way it was.

Try to see past the slave hose and bleeder to see if you can see the slave work. Could it be stuck in the depressed position? Have a helper push the pedal while you watch. I think your tranny is broke.

SOURCE: 96 escort manual 5 speed stuck in reverse

Is the stick moving? or is it 'stuck' in the reverse position as well? There are adjustments but it seems more likely that your 'stick' has come unstuck from the gear levers that actually put the gears in the right spot. Have someone look at the transmission while you move the stick to see if the levers are moving and put your response here.

I have a 96 Infiniti g20 5 speed manual transmission, when I put my foot on the clutch I have to just about put the clutch to the floor before it engages, where and how do I adjust the clutch cable.

The clutch adjustment is performed by tightening or loosening the cable lock nut at the transmission side where the cable attaches to the shift fork arm.

My 96 ford escort automatic acts like it jumps to nueteral while driving until it reachs running temp

Have you tried to replace the transmission filter and flush the transmission? you could also have a bad torque converter clutch solenoid. I have a ford windstar van that does that and it does that. I found out that the torque converter clutch solenoid is bad.

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

Thx ahead for the 2 people who responded before to this ? Anyways my standard transmission slips 25% of the time only on 3rd gear. I do have 5 gears. Its been like this for 7months and never got worse or...

that is very difficult. it could be that you need to change your filter and fluid. but, it could be that you do need to replace or rebuild your transmission. if you go to your local autozone, they can help you out with everything you need.

Hi i have a 99 ford escort with a 5 speed trans manual it is stuck in 5 gear do you know what is wrong and where is the dip stick to check the fluid level Thanks steve

HI STEVE, FLUID LEVEL IS CHECKED BY SPEEDO SENSOR,HAVE TO PULL IT OUT AND IT HAS LIKE A DIPSTICK ON IT,ITS BURIED BY RIGHT HALFSHAFT ON TOP OF TRANSMISSION. ALSO YOUR SHIFTER IS CONTROLLED BY LINKAGE,SEE IF IT CAME LOOSE ON TRANSMISSION AND IS CLUTCH GOOD? YOU MAY BE ABLE TO DISCONNECT LINKAGE AND MANUALLY TAKE OUT OF 5TH AND ISOLATE THE PROBLEM.
