Question about 2000 Chevrolet 3500
When I tried released my emergency brake to leave in my 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Pick Up the emergency brake release handle pulled back but did not return back. I checked the emergency brake release and found a small nut like metal piece on the floor of the floorboard directly below the brake release handle. This small nut like metal piece has part of the wire cabble that is running through the middle of the nut (?). I tried releasing the emergency brake by pulling the brake release cable wire with a pair of pliers but the cable just kept pulling out so I stopped that. Is this a pretty simple fix to get the emergency brake release working again? Also is there a way to release the emergency brake manually so I can drive the truck?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I had the same problem on my 2003. Open the driver door all the way. Get on your knees just outside the door. Follow the plastic tub that holds the parking brake release cable inside the truck. Start from the release lever and follow to the end of the tube. There will be a metal lever that the cable was attached to before it broke. You have to pull that lever with your hand to release the parking brake. Very Important!!!...Hold the parking brake activation pedal with your other hand when you release the brake. Let the pedal out slowly when you pull the metal release lever. The pedal will come back very fast and you could injure yourself if you are not careful. Good luck!
