Crawl under the car and look in between the radiator and the engine on the drivers side where the engine bolts to the transmission. It will be just to the drivers side of the oil filter.
just jack the car up go get 5 quarts of good quality transmission fluid ,,change the filter put in new fluid easy to do with the filters that are like the oil filters
Pick a brand and stick with it. changing from one kind to another can make deposits come loose and stop things up. The filler lid or the dipstick shold be marked with the reconmented viscosity. You didn't specify the year so I'd be guessing so ceak the owners manual or an auto parts store with the year make and model and engine size and type ( turbo or not) As far as brands, You get want you pay for and I'm afraid of cheap oil. Make sure the oil passes the reconmodation of the manufacturer and it will be noted on the bottle. full synthintic oils are better but if the casr already has a bunch of miles with regular oil it's safer to stay that way.
The oil system reminder needs to be reset so the computer knows you had the oil changed. The procedure is in the owners manual but can be tough to find so you might have to do a little searching for it. Many of the GM vehicles can be reset by turning the ignition key to "run" [but don't crank or start the engine] and then fully depressing and releasing the accellerator pedal smothly three times within 5 seconds. Turn the key off, wait about 10 seconds and restart the engine to see if the reset was successful. Check your manual first as not all GM's can be reset this way and yours may be different.
oh thats the change oil light expect it every 3500 to 4500 miles they glow.. you can usually reset it by holding down the trip button with the car off and then turn the key to the II position where everything lights up
