Question about 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix

The engine of my '96 grand prix sputters, and there is a clicking sound. I can't get it to go any faster than 23MPH.

The "clicking" I referred to is an ocassional tapping sound(very similiar to a valve tapping), that seems to come from the engine, near the sparkplugs....

Could be a spark arcing. When it's dark outside, open the hood and fire up the engine. Then enjoy the electrical light show..

If there isn't one, redefine clicking.

98 Pontiac Grand Prix load front end roaring?

Defective fan clutch, if it has one. With a cold engine only, try spinning the fan blade by hand. If it does not turn freely, the fan clutch is defective. Warning: When the engine is hot, the fan can turn on by itself with the car not running and keys are NOT in the ignition.

96 pontiac grand prix gear shift moves but wont go into gear unless you move the car by hand then it clicks and will shift

Are you saying the automatic transmission will not shift into gear or the shifter won't move into the correct position?

It sounds like you have transmission problems but it could be that your linkage is loose or defective. Not enough information to give you a good starting place.

I have a thumping sound coming from my 98 pontic grand prix, it only happens when you hit the gas hard, now the sound comes from about the middle of the car to the passenger side. i know its not the...

could be that you have a broken belt in one of your tires..this will bake a thumping as you drive, the faster you drive the more noticeable it is....check your tires...may need to replace one.
