check for codes in the PCM if none the I would check fuel pressure and volume. the volume should be about 1 pint in 15 seconds. the fuel pressure should be 35lbs, continually check pressure until the car dies as sometimes a bad fuel pump won`t show up immediately. also change the fuel filter.

I have gas leaking at the end of the fuel rail on a 2002 Lexus ES300. This looks like a plastic cap. Where can I get a new cap?

it is not the cap that you need it will be the fuel pressure regulator and also called the fuel damper for the fuel pressure.....behind the plastic cap is a screw that is set at the factory to regulate the pressure for the fuel at the injecter rail and this screw will back out and will start leaking......you will need to go to the dealer and show them which one you need cause there are 2 of them and they can show you a picture or the fuel system and you can pick out the one that is leaking.....i hope that this info will help you and if you need any other info let me know.........let me and fixya know if i was able to help you in any way and a thumbs up and a comment on how i did would be appreciated.....good luck and have a blessed day........thanks.....

1996 ford full size bronco, 302 engine, starts and runs fine, under power it bucks and misses and has no power. let off gas and is ok again. A test shows a misfire on the #4 cylinder. The plugs, wires and...

Is this a 4.9L engine? An inline 6? My database doesn't show a 4.9L in that model year. It does show that engine in 95.
Did you visually check for spark at number 4 cylinder?
For 95-- 4.9L--fuel pressure--50--60 psi. Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, see if fuel pressure will hold for a bit with everything off.
Fuel--spark--compression. Some ford makes and models, ford can disable the fuel injector, if misfire is detected. I only mention this because, swapping injectors may not be conclusive? You can check for fuel injector pulse, anyway.
How long since over-all tune-up? You did get a new fuel filter, if inline filter, correct?

My truck is showing codes 171 and 174. Can you help

P0174 Generic Definition

Fuel Trim Bank Two Condition
- The ECM has detected a rich or lean air/fuel ratio condition on engine bank two

Probable Cause[s]

  1. If bank one and two are set together suspect a fuel pressure condition or MAF sensor fault
  2. Failed HO2S21
  3. Ignition misfire condition
  4. Fuel injector problem
  5. Engine mechanical condition

    P0171 Generic Definition

    Fuel trim bank one condition
    - The powertrain control module uses the oxygen sensor to calculate the air/fuel ratio of the engine. The computer has recognized a rich or lean condition on one engine bank only.

    Probable Cause[s]

    1. If bank one and two codes set together suspect fuel pressure or MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor
    2. Oxygen sensor defective
    3. Ignition misfire-repair
    4. Fuel injector problem

Sometimes when the engine is cold my 98 accord sputters and dies when started. I turn it over again and it starts up fine. When I drive it is OK unless I push the pedal to the floor - then it does...

change the fuel filter. Then check the fuel pump pressure at idle and at 3000 rpm. A fuel pressure regulator stuck in the idle setting will show those symptoms but so will a partially clogged filter.

While driving my ford focus 1.6 TDCi dies out - it's now happening frequently. It has been put on the diagnostic machine and only shows up problems with fuel pressure so not sure what exactly to fix.

Cars now days run with very specific fuel pressures. If your car is showing a fuel code it is most likely the fuel pump. You need to find the pressure for you car and have the pressure actually check. Also if you change the pump you need to change the fuel filter.

      I have p0158,p0171,p0175,p1336,p2198,p2273-02,p0403 all showing

Sounds like the fuel pump pressure may be set too low. When you have the throttle open the TPS (throttle position sensor) sets the spark and fuel for a given demand.

When the demand is greater than the amount of pressure you have, the pressure drops and the engine is gas starved. The fuel pressure regulator is not responding fast enough but it is limited by the pressure your pump is making.

You need to get the fuel pressure checked. If the pressure is okay then the regulator is sluggish.

If the pressure is slow to rise, you should consider changing the fuel filter if it has not been done in the past 30,000 miles.
Next, disconnect a spark plug and check for spark while engine is cranking. Use a spark tester or old spark plug grounded to the engine block.
      Let me know.

Service engine light on showing code p0089

Diagnostic trouble code P0089 - The ECM commands the Bosch high-pressure fuel pump to deliver a specific fuel rail pressure - that can vary up to 23,000 psi depending on load and speed. The actual pressure is monitored via the fuel rail pressure sensor. If the fuel rail pressure varies more than desired or if commanded fuel pump flow is 100mm3/second or less, DTC P0089 will set.

Corrective action includes measuring the fuel rail pressure using a Tech II scan tool, then compare that to commanded fuel rail pressure with the engine running at 2000 rpm. The difference must be less than 20 Mpa.

A blockage in the fuel tank or plugged fuel filter could cause this fault (excessive vacuum in fuel line). If there is less than 5 in Hg of vacuum when measured at the fuel pressure test port at 3000 rpm, the fuel pressure regulator could be defective, and may need to be replaced. The fuel pressure regulator (FPR) is a sub assembly located on the Bosch high-pressure fuel pump.
