Hi,
Judging by the problem you have a 1.8 petrol engine?,if it is they used to over fuel on start up ,you can try changing the engine coolant temp sensor as this is the usual cause ,if not then some more info on the vehicle would be usefull.

    Hi

Ok much easier should be a KV6 2.5 quad cam, this engine eats sparkplugs and the coil pencils are well known for failure and poor spark KV ,the fault is still over fueling compounded by poor spark ,to check this you need an Osciloscope and the know how or you can throw money at it, By replacing the spark plugs to platinum tipped you get a better spark and by replacing the pencil coils you get a better KV to the plug ,rover have modified these at least twice so use OE coils, would still pay to replace the ECT sensor.

My friend tried to start my 2003 LandRover with a "door key" only and now it wot stay running.

With most factory installed security anti theft systems, putting anything in the ignition slot other than the proper key will disable the fuel system.

To get your car running again there is likely a protocol you may be able to follow over the phone with assistance of your dealer as long as you can provide them with the necessary credentials to prove your ownership. They should be able to help you get your car running again.

I have a 2002 landrover freelander. About every two months it will not start. It is not the battery as it turns over very strong. Let it sit for about 30 minutes and it will start. It is not flooded...

when it does it the next time take the key out every time you try to start it and it dosent start. It could be the ignition switch not the key. And if it starts sooner by removing key then you have an idea where to start.

2002 LandRover Freelander HSE- Turns but doesn't start/fire up

It does sound like electrical problems. When it does this you need to know is it not getting fire, fuel or both. The alarm could be a problem, engine control, or a simple ground strap loose. Make sure you battery terminals are clean and connections are tight. The last time i saw this happen it turned out to be a wiring issue because someone had tapped into the factory alarm harness and the wiring was done very poorly which was causing the problem.
