Abs and parking brake light came on for no reason

I was dropping off my trailer with my 2002 durango slt 4.7 and when i went to pull away the lights both came on. i naturally pulled the brake release and it was not on, i pushed in the parking brake and released and they are still on. any ideas, please.

i have already replaced the abs senson on the differential, the two trani sensors on the driver side of the trani and the tranducer on the passenger side of the trani, i had this same problem a yr ago and dodge diagnosed it for free telling me it was the vehicle speed sensor, i declined the repair and the car worked fine until now. this would lead me to believe that it has nothing to do with the hitch harness or the ebrake switch. any ideas

Installation of a trailer brake in my dodge durango

One would assume that Doge believes the Durango can stop 6,200 lbs using the brakes on the Durango.

I wouldn't have thought a braked trailer relied on the vehicle's computer system, but rather on the application of a brake light, or by pressure on the hitch, like the larger boat trailers at my marina.

Having said that, there is indeed a special controller for the Durango. check out the link.

I would take vehicle and trailer to a specialist trailer installer, like Hitch City.

Abs light stays on and brake light on 98 durango

The regular brake warning light is for the parking brake being applied or the brake fluid is low. You would need to get the abs system scanned for trouble codes to proceed.

Brake interlock is going to be the problem. Check all your fuses, especially the ABS and tail light fuses. If all your fuses are good, then it will be down to a wiring issue or bad solenoid for the interlock system.

Abs & brake light coming on randomally on 2002 dodge durango

Take it to Auto Zone or other parts store and have them run a free diagnostics scan. Then reply with the code. If no codes are present, you can start checking the front abs sensors. I dont believe there are rear sensors on these models.

2002 Dodge Durango. Emergency brake and ABS Lights came on for the first time yesterday. While parked on a slant. Lights stayed on while no noticeable change in bake operation. What do the lights mean...

Number one cause is low brake fluid check and make sure brake fluid is above the minimum line if not fill it to past the minimum line with whatever the DOT specified brake fluid on the cap says

Abs Lights on and Speedometer won't work.

Check the ABS sensor on each wheel. Also check all fuses first.

ABS and traction control really are only for panic stops and if your tires slip on wet surface's and yes each tire has a sensor on it. However if the brake light comes on this has nothing to do with the ABS or traction control lights. It's not a parking brake light. This light tells you, you have a serious brake problem.
