Probably an obvious question, but did you check your antifreeze level? If it's good, change the thermostat. If still having issues, your water pump may need to be replaced or radiator cores plugged

Misfire on 3 and 4. 2001 4.6L F-150

There were a number of problems with V=8 engines in this Series. Some of the sparkplugs would try to leave the engine on their own. You need more testing to know what is wrong.

I will try to explain. The trouble Codes generated by your Onboard computer can be too general to identify a specific part for some problems.

There are 3 causes for a misfire. Fuel, spark, and compression. You can have fuel injectors which are dirty or have bad connections or coils and fail to open consistently. Spark issues are more complicated to diagnose as coils are now attached to individual sparkplugs(some models) and are triggered by Crankshaft and Camshaft sensors. A bad coil-pack feeding each bank of sparkplugs can short out adjacent plugs like #3 and #4.

Compression problems between #3 and #4 cylinders from a bad head gasket can cause misfires.

You can get a loaner test kit for the fuel injectors or use a test light or multi-tester. This will eliminate or confirm the fuel injector circuit as the problem.

There are cylinder balance tests that are non invasive when done with a good scanner. Otherwise removing the sparkplugs will be required to do a compression test.

Sparkplugs leaving the engine: They either unscrew or rip out the sparkplug hole. Loose plugs will misfire. BUT there is a problem with removing sparkplugs on these Series of motors. The factory plugs are 2 pieces welded together. Carbon buildup causes the sparkplugs to come apart as they are removed. Use solvent every 1/4 turn, let set for first 2 twists.

There was a Recall on these motors, but a Mileage limit and a time limit of about 7 Years was imposed. Check Internet for articles about all of these subjects, photos, etc.

Please rate my info.

Trouble code P0303

The number 3 cylinder has a misfire.I would change the sparkplug first. Then if it still misses check the injector connection then the injector itself.

I need to change the spark plugs where r they located and which kind is the best for my car because there is a single pin and twin pin.

Hi! The sparkplugs are concealed with the top engine cover. YOu need to remove the top cover using a torx bit. Once removed you'll see the spark plug wires, pull the wires and you'll now have access to the sparkplugs. Rotate counter clockwise to remove the plugs and replace using the new sparkplugs. I strongly suggest an IRIDIUM spark plugs but if not available you'll be good at PLATINUM both single pin. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Cant find sparkplugs

The spark plugs are under the aluminum engine cover plate on the top of the engine. ( The one that has the raised ribs and has the 2.4 on it) You need to remove the 4 bolts that hold the plate on the engine and then you will see the spark plugs in the center of the head in between the cam towers. Once you get the plate off, you can't miss them.

REACH WAY BACK, MOST LIKELY YOU WILL BREAK THE WIRES WHEN REMOVING THEM FROM THE SPARK PLUGS

2001 daewoo sputters at stops and low speeds. found oil in 1st sparkplug hole. advice?

The oil in the sparkplug hole indicates a leaking valve cover gasket. That may or may not be the cause of the problems you've got (doubt that it is), but it's still something that needs to be changed.
