Usually not. Disconnect negative battery terminal, then positive. Next remove battery hold down (type is specific to car model). Battery then lifts out and replace with correct new one. Install is reverse.

Replacing the remote battery (CR1616) is very easy but should be done with care to ensure the screwhead doesn't strip. Full instructions here:
