no you can not run a 6 on 5 or , is that is the question?
some car makers do it by disabling valves, with special head(s) valve actuators. but collapsed PISTON IS DOOMED, is is snapped rod.

I have Chev PU, 04 that cuts spark and fuel to cylinders if it oveheats.
works great. Chev, wants the engines to last.

The LL8 (or Vortec 4200), is a straight-6 gasoline engine produced from 2002 to 2009. It was the first Atlas engine, and was introduced in 2002 for the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, and Oldsmobile Bravada. The engine was also used in the Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7X, and Isuzu Ascender.

11.2 quarts from dry, including torque converter. When just changing the filter, between 5-7 quarts. Dexron 6 is the best, and newest technology from GM.

it can be most anything on # 4 cylinder. plugs, wires, coil, etc. good-day !

Fan pulley loose,but four bolts that hold fan on are tight,like something is loose behind pulley on my 2005 chevy trailblazer/vortec 4200

Do you know if the plugs were changed, a bad or broken plug will also cause rough idle and slow acceleration?

just increase idle rating slightly...this will definitely solve your problem...

may be intake manifold leak also check fuel injectors they may be clogged
