My 2006 Mercedes C230 was running a week ago, I drove 80 miles to work after the work day I go in to go and it cranked over but it would not start. It has almost a full tank of gas and I have since checked the fuel pressure at the fuel rail and it reads 30lbs with fuel present at the Schrader valve, I have also replaced the crank position sensor and still it will not start the engine when I crank it over.. the voltage on the dash is reading 12.5 v and now after a week of trying to start it it reads 12.3 v before I try starting it. What next? There was no check engine light no mechanical issues except for voltage regulator I had replaced a month ago and a battery 3 months ago. What do you recommend ? I have not connected it up to a obm II trouble code analyzer yet.. will this show any codes when there were not any to start with?
At 12.3 volts you are down to about 50 % of battery and if you are going to attempt to start it again the battery should be charged so the engine spins at a nice fast rate. Having said that have you checked for spark? Is there an ignition fuse?
And I would try the code analyzer. Nothing to lose and all to gain.
