Yes a CV joint could cause it. Look under the car with someone putting it in gear. If any of the shafts are turning it is a joint if not the diff in the transmission is gone. Good luck.
I would say either you have bad cv joints or they may have beeb damaged some with all that other work The question you should ask yourself & the shop is why is it there now & not before all that work. Were all transaxle & motor mounts bad & missed as well or the cradle moved for some reason You had it Wheel Alignment I hope You can't do a rack & not alignment
The bearing in the pulley is a single row ball bearing so you can expect a slight side movement in the pulley. Check the drive belt for cracks. Ensure that the belt is running at the top of the pulley and not down in the groove. Lastly if there is no other obvious problems then change the drive belt
The most common sources of noise would be sway bar end links and/or bushings, drive shaft CV joints [which often make a ratcheting noise], ball joints, or tie rod ends. Rarer would be wheel bearings/hubs but they often will make noise in straight line driving also. Either way I would be sure to have it checked out as soon as possible as it could be a big safety issue should something fail while you are driving it. I actually own one of these and have replaced both sway bar links and bushings on mine due to the klunking noise they would make at slower/in town speeds on bumps and turns.
Is it a metal shaft? When you put it in drive does it make any noise? Does the speedometer move? Does it make a loud clicking sound when you put it back in Park?
this sounds as if your drive shaft has failed, take to your nearest mechanic and have him verify this this should only cost about 200 euros to repair if it is the drivshaft.
